I'm a big fan of using "theatre of the mind" in my games, but I also find that visual aids can be incredibly powerful for setting the scene and bringing NPCs to life. The artwork within the official D&D sourcebooks and adventures is truly stunning and does an amazing job of capturing the essence of the game world. Character portraits, location vistas, and even item illustrations can significantly enhance player immersion.
Currently, if I want to share this fantastic art with my players during a session, I have to go through a somewhat clunky process. I need to download the images from D&D Beyond and then re-upload them as custom maps. This extra step feels unnecessary, especially considering the art is already readily available within the platform.
Imagine how much smoother and more engaging our sessions could be if we had the ability to directly access and display this official artwork within the D&D Beyond Maps interface. This would allow Dungeon Masters to effortlessly share character portraits when introducing NPCs, display evocative landscapes to establish the environment, and even present player handouts directly within the shared visual space.
Think about the impact this would have:
Enhanced Immersion: Players could instantly connect with the visual representation of the world and its inhabitants, deepening their engagement.
Streamlined Gameplay: DMs could quickly share visuals without interrupting the flow of the game to download and re-upload files.
Full Utilization of Resources: We could fully leverage the incredible artistic talent that goes into creating the official D&D materials.
Improved Handout Delivery: Sharing visual handouts directly through the map interface would be far more intuitive than current methods.
The integration of official D&D artwork and handouts into the Maps feature would be a game-changer for DMs who appreciate the power of visual storytelling, even in a "theatre of the mind" focused game. It would unlock the full potential of the beautiful art already at our fingertips within D&D Beyond.
Thank you for considering this request. I truly believe this feature would be a valuable addition to the platform and would greatly benefit the D&D Beyond community.

This isn't the feedback forum so you're posting in the wrong place completely
The maps devs don't take feedback via the forums anyway, you're supposed to use the feedback tab in Maps itself
