I've heard hit dice referred to as a "critically under-used mechanic", and have seen several homebrew character options (including a coversion of the warlord class from 4th to 5th), and thought I'd make my own. The problem is that features that increase or use your hit die pool can't be properly represented currently. Would it be possible to add "hit dice" to the list of modifiable elements under "bonus" and "set" in a feature option? What about a way for features to use up hit dice like a short rest can?
After testing it just now, I discovered that you can use hit dice by clicking short rest, and if you dont click confirm, it doesn't reset short rest skills, so you can track hit dice usage without taking a short rest.
That's more of a work around than a true solution, and only for half the problems. Still, it's better than nothing, so it'll do as a temporary measure.
