[Solved] PHB 78 says this about martial arts: "You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike or monk weapon. This die changes as you gain monk levels..." and PHB 77 says at level 14, the monk's Martial Arts die is 1d8.
So, why does my character sheet say that I only deal 2 bludgeoning damage for each unarmed strike? That can't be right. Beyond says it's a flat 1 damage plus strength modifier, which in my character's case is +1.
Spending 1 Ki point to do 4 points of damage (2 unarmed strikes in a Flurry of Blows) hardly seems fair, especially when I can also spend 1 Ki point to attempt a Stunning Strike, which makes my target stunned until the end of my next turn (provided they fail their saving throw). I'm pretty sure Beyond is wrong in this case as I cannot find anything in the PHB that supports a flat 1 damage plus Strength.
Furthermore, Beyond is only giving me +6 to hit, and I know that's wrong. PHB 78 also says I can use either Strength or Dexterity. I have a 20 Dex (yay wood elf, speccing my highest score from the array to Dex, and ASI's) so that's +5 Dex, plus my +5 proficiency bonus — I am proficient in martial arts, am I not?
I have a character sheet I got from Reddit that has a ton of scripts that automates a lot of character creation, and it gives me +10 to hit and 1d8+5 for damage for each unarmed strike. The math from PHB 77-78 adds up. So, why is Beyond giving me only +6 to hit and a flat 2 damage?
Edit: Solved... I had a homebrew clothing item that got set as medium armor somehow. Monks aren't allowed to wear armor. The clothing item is not armor in any case, it's literally just clothes, so I toggled "Wear" on the sheet and now everything is back to normal. So that was weird.

Yeah, you don't need to make mundane clothes as equipment, especially armor. That'll mess with all sorts of things
