I have created a number of items and monsters and other homebrew things for my homebrew campaign. As part of that I want to be able to create them on DND beyond so I can get a proper stat sheets for the monsters and be able to put the items in players inventories. However I don't want my players to see them. Can they? I can't find any information anywhere and some of my items and monsters that are private have the number 3 or 4 beside an icon of an eye, suggesting views? Is that the case? Have my party seen these items and monsters now?
If you're in a campaign with players, they can see any homebrew content in your collection, but not what's in your creations regardless of if you have content sharing on or off. They just need to have homebrew content enabled on their character sheet.
If you've made homebrew items that you don't want them to see, remove them from your collection. They'll still be accessible through your creations, but your players won't be able to see them
Hi! Replying 5 years later, but I think a simple fix here can be just getting really clear on collections vs creations in the website copy. "Remember, private homebrew is automatically shared with other users in your campaigns and does not need to be shared with the community for players to access." Doesnt mention this at all and gave me a small heart attack because iI'm home brewing special items for each of my PCs character development and growth. Thanks for listening!
