Yes, I was also surprised to see no random rolling for stats.

"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
There aren't any dice rolls in DDB at all, why not just roll physical dice for this like with everything else in the game?
Why not add a button that says "generate random stats" just like the button for generating the random names? It takes nothing away from the people who don't want to use it, and makes it easier and more fun for those of us that _do_ want it. Maybe some people play the game with no real dice? Maybe they're playing on the train, or at a hotel or restaurant, or just anywhere and don't have their books or dice with them. To that you might say "just use a dice rolling app", to which I would reply, why have to leave the DDB site on my phone/tablet to switch to another app and switch back, when they can add a "generate random stats" option that doesn't cost you anything.

In the meantime, you can perform dice rolling in any forum post (or private message I believe).
To do 4d6 drop lowest, you want to use
[ roll]4d6.dropLowest(1)[ /roll]
Just remove the spaces immediately after the left square brackets.

While that might be a workaround, it's probably less efficient at the point than switching to a different dice-roller app on a mobile device, or rolling real dice if you're sitting at your desk on a PC. :-)

There is no dice rolling native to DDB though, so you can't play without real dice using just DDB

These are both options I would like within the software. Would it be possible to create it as a homebrew item?

Tooltips (Help/aid)
I'm merely posting my wish list. In their promo materials they talk about adding digital dice.
"The future of D&D Beyond includes things like monster and encounter building, digital dice rolling, combat tracking, and more. Additionally, the D&D Beyond team is working with the D&D team at Wizards of the Coast to ensure that the new adventures and rules material coming this fall also make it the digital toolset. This is a pretty great tool, and I can't wait to get to use it more. Head over here and check it out."
And I work on my computer most of the time, I can go to another window, but it would be nice not to have to.
BadEye posted in another thread, to say that the rough order of work is:
So, I expect some really awesome additions to the Character Builder and Sheet coming fairly soon. :)
