I originally put this in general, but I think it needs to go here too:
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this here, but as I this is one part of the DnD universe I love, I would also love to see a maps library. Maybe, like a google maps/open maps viewer too. I know most people homebrew their environments, but I like to play within the Forgotten Realms world, so this would be great.
I would love to have this in my campaigns especially CoS. Especially since that takes some (sometimes huge) pieces of paper off the table and gives more room. It'd also be nice if the homebrew section had some stuff for maps when that is available as they're a super easy thing to adopt and change to fit the campaign. Also a digital map editor would be awesome since it can go right to print from the site making it easier to duplicate maps since I hand draw right now. This might be too much to ask though... : /
Phase three is listed as having "Campaign Management" tools. Map-related stuff would be amazing. Especially like a dungeon builder that integrated with their homebrew content section. It'd be great to be able to share dungeons and stuff.
If they're going to do stuff like that, they also need to allow it to be hidden from players too. I don't want to be creating a new map, only to have my players stumble across it.
I can't imagine they won't. Stuff will probably be private by default and you'll have to post it for it to be visible. That's also just more speculation though.
I am really interested to see how things are going to work with regards to privacy. If they're offering campaign management and homebrew rules, it'd be great to be able to share that with people, but at the same time, you don't want your players being able to stumble upon things they shouldn't know, and equally, if you have to wait until your players know about it to put it in the system, then that seems redundant.
I guess the easy solution is just tell your players don't go poking around on anything posted by me and let them know your username, but that obviously depends on your group. The only option I see now is blocking them, but that's obviously a bit extreme. Also as for sharing stuff with your players it might be smart to make 2 maps one with secrets marked for your use and one for players. If that's the case it might be nice to be able to batch the two together for other DM's to use. On that note it'd be nice to batch things in general rather than have to post individual items that are meant to be used together.
Yeah as a new DM and new to the game I'd love to have some sort of map editor but also access to offical maps to show/share with the Player like campaign maps and the like. Hopefully in the DMs section later?
Ya almost all of this is for the homebrew section I think so we'll see. It makes sense that it's in phase 3 but I'm and impatient person :P. I'd love to look at and modify maps for inspiration on campaigns. In honesty the more I think about a map editor the more I think I'd use it. Digital map editors are hard to come by and the convenience of it is huge.
This would be a wonderful tool. Especially for maps that are relevant to adventure books. I mainly play online across Roll20 because I moved out of state, and it takes so much more time to try and find a correct map or make my own. Especially when the party is so damn scatter brained they like to jump to random locations where I don't always have a map prepared.

I like maps.
Absolutely. Having high resolution maps for supplements (Like Strahd or Apocalypse) would be great.

Having a way to bookmark certain maps, make notes and put markers on them and save to a character would be great. Both for a DM and a Player.

Easy reference to maps, and the ability to create custom maps would be fantastic.
