A couple of times in the last few months I've had ideas about how the devs could implement something that they want to, but haven't yet. Then it occurred to me that the limitation might simply be that they hadn't thought of the solution I had.
So rather than spamming the devs with personal mail, I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread for "how to" suggestions-because after all, maybe they DID try that idea and it didn't work.
So let me start off:
Under item (weapon) creation homebrew- you are given the option of setting a new hit die for the weapon and # of hit dice, but these changes don't translate to the character sheet. I figure what's causing the problem is there's either no override function or if there is, it's set too low or alternatively there's something in the default weapon code which is preventing the override setting from taking place, possibly something as innocuous as a misplaced punctuation Mark.
So establishing a default value of 0 to each category of default weapons stats should allow any modifications to read as 0+ in that category and thus show the overridden mods correctly.
It's a simple solution, but not easy to implement-there's a lot of code to be looked at. Once the specific bug is identified though, cleaning it up across the boards should be a whole lot easier than rewriting the whole dang thing as some people have suggested for non-magical item creation.
When looking at class features, it could be a cool idea to have a color scheme or titles to show that the class feature pertains to the class or the subclass (in character creation and possibly the player sheet). Newer players like myself might not know the ins and outs of all classes and when changing a subclass, we will know specific features will be there to stay regardless of what subclass you have taken.
Hope to see more awesome ideas. D&D Beyomd had a lot of potential.
Totally agree with the first post, when we create items in the homebrew, there is NEVER a way to adjust the damage dice. You can ADD damage dice, but the original die is set when you choose the weapon type.
My table has Been playing since 3.5, I have been a DM since 1985. We play a very loose style of the game that has evolved into high fantasy improv. We’ve figured out a way to play entirely without dice except for melee, save rolls, damage rolls. One of the main stats we roll for is Bravery (BRV)
Bravery affects all of your other stats and personalities. Imagine, for example, Dragons Who have a little society of cowardly dragons. Or, say, for example, a gnome with a16 INT, 16 4 STR 6 WI, 5 CON, 15 DEX, 18 DEX And finally a 19 BRA (BRAVERY) bravery with race modifiers, what would Gester the jester be? A jester of course, and a bard, a skilled acrobat and a celebrated inventor, a brilliant composer and novelist, as well as a million other accomplishments. He’s like Leonardo Da Vinci.
But he is also A master puppeteer who plays not only with wooden puppets and kings and queens alike. Gester plays both sides with the acumen of a chess master. He’s an espionage artist and a stealthy master of psychological manipulation, stealth, grace, charm, dignity and aplomb. So skilled is he that he can stop a hoard of raging orcs in their tracks with a song or a rapier as a last resort. He can sneak in or use charm. He is a master poisoner. In sum, the perfect assassin that ever was. Imagine what such a creature could do in the midst of all of the fools in the courts of the black and white queens. Or, what if he rolled a 4 or a 10 BRV? How would he be different?
My suggestion would be a function like a QR code scanner so if you own the books irl you can just scan that and get the online version. This has always been a problem for me because I got the 2014 players handbook in real life but I can’t use anything from it on here because I need to buy it here as well. I’m still a teenager, so I can’t just buy stuff willy nilly, and I hate that I have so many options on paper but so few online.

Allow the creation of nonmagical items
Hopefully this thread is seen by the devs.

So there you go.
