I'm considering doing a a Yosemite Sam based pc for an upcoming campaign.
I was thinking human fighter champion with the archery and two-weapon fighting styles to be able to dual wield pistols. I looked at rogue and ranger as possibilities, but nothing really jumped out at me. Maybe there is potential in those classes or another that I'm glossing over though.
In all honesty I would say that dwarf would fit better than human. He is short, grumpy, and his mustache is at dwarf beard proportions.
I also think Sam would be a fighter because of the whole "Home on the range" thing. At which point I would suggest two weapon fighting and picking up the sharpshooter feat.
(and your in a campaign that allows pistols… cool.)
If you wanna fully embrace the firing guns and dynamite vibe, I'd go gunslinger or artilliarist artificer, unless you think that'd be too smart for him...
Fighter makes sense to me mostly because its the class that gives you the most attacks per round, and ultimately what does Yosemite do but fire wildly with his pistols? Champion makes sense as well... he doesn't exactly have a lot of nuance in his fighting style... just kind of an angry little guy with seemingly endless ammunition.
Use hill dwarf for race cuz sam's a angry little cuss with a big, red beard, plus the +1 hp for the cartoon character aspect, and then take matt mercer's gunslinger, I don't think champion's a terribly good idea but idk
@charlestheplant Funny you mention that. I was thinking about him having a knack for building Rube Goldberg style traps, but he is very likely to stumble into it himself when trying to explaining how it works.
Gunslinger would be awesome, but probably sticking to officially supported classes.
Wait a second, gunslinger artillerist… third level eldritch Cannon can be held in one hand… fifth level arcane firearm, you know how to turn a wand, staff, or rod into an arcane firearm… Yosemite Sam and his two pistols.
Greetings all,

Any recommendations?

Yup, dwarf.
WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
Wow - didn't even consider dwarf, but it makes complete sense!
There’s Matt Mercer’s gunslinger subclass for fighters.
Gunslinger did cross my mind, but we’ll probably just be sticking to official content.

Mystic v3 should be official, nuff said.

Dude we have found it!!!
Hahaha. Well ... we'll probably be sticking to officially supported classes. Can't make it easy :P
Still, ya'll have come through with some FANTASTIC suggestions.
Hill Dwarf, Criminal (he does wear that black mask), Ranger. Go Beast Master conclave ala Tasha's to get his Bugs Bunny animal companion.
