I originally wanted a blaster caster. Warlock was is my first PC. I have two spell slots, and really just spamming Agonizing Blast. I mainly have defensive spells to use for my spell slot, very few offensive spells. I hold on to slots just in case I get into bad situations. Our campaign go to level 18. To Me Warlocks are great for Multclassing. It’s kind of lack luster. I have. Tiefling and if I go Sorc it will be Red Dragon bloodline. My Tiefling has fire resistance and will go great with a fire caster (pyromancer). Will use Elemental Adept (fire). Because I have a feat on my Warlock, and all my abilities would stay the same. We do rest often when we can. Should just stick with Warlock, or switch over to Pyromancer?
It really depends on how many short rests you are taking, and what invocations you have. Eldritch blast plus Agonising blast plus Hex plus Maddening Hex is by far the best combination for blasting. Once you have run out of spell slots as a sorcerer you will be spamming cantrips anyway, and nothing a Sorcerer has as a cantrip beats the warlock combination I mentioned above. At level 8 your sorcerer will have 12 spell slots total; 4-3-3-2 whereas the warlock will have two 4th level slots per short rest so even if you manage 3 rests per day that's still a lot less. But if you chose your remaining 2 invocations wisely then you could get mage armor at will, Book of Ancient Secrets is amazing, you can literally learn any and all ritual spells in game, no matter what class spell list they are on. Casting them as rituals means you don't use spell slots, and that is huge. Eldritch sight, Fiendish vigour, Mask of many faces, misty vision, all give you an at will spell - with multiple others that are 1 per day. So They are both very good for different reasons. Sorcerers are great and flashy blasters but it you spam your spell slots in the first couple of fights then you are far worse off than a warlock.
I have the imp familiar which is our spy. He is very helpful to know what fights are ahead. I have Repelling Blast, and Lance of Lethargy. I probably should drop Lethargy. I have the Fiend as my Pact. What should I take if I drop Lance of Lethargy.
Maddening Hex at level 5, it adds a huge amount of damage and is in effect a small AOE attack. Great for when your enemies are huddled up. Otherwise there are so many possibilities - if you have a good imagination and a decent DM then Misty vision is really good, if you don't have anyone with the ability to cast detect magic then Eldritch sight is great. Mage armour at will is always good, it's better than any non magical light armour.
In my opinion, warlocks are great fun. They’re my favorite class to play! But as you noticed in combat they tend to be no different than an archer with a couple of tricks and/or spell slots. Sure they use Eldritch Blast instead of a bow, but they fill the same role; they’re ranged attackers who focus on one or two opponents at a time.
Their role playing and other features are a ton of fun and that’s why I love playing them. If I loved casting spells I’d get frustrated with their 2 spell slots too.
Personally I dislike multi-classing a mage. You don't unlock the highest level spells until you are a high level too. If you have a 5th level warlock and 5th level sorcerer then you have 3rd level spells, but if you had focused on either one to reach level 10 you'd be rocking 5th level spells by the same point in time. In your case taking 13 levels in sorcerer from now will get you to level 7 spells, but you'd miss out on the 8th and 9th that a single class would have.

Thanks, makes more since how the class is orientated now that you put that way. A ranger using spells.
You’re welcome. And just like rangers, warlocks have additional abilities that come into play outside of combat.
