So im designing a divine soul sorc + Celesital warlock hybrid character and was curious about how Twinned Spell would apply to something like Healing Word or Cure wounds. Can it even be done? Does each character take the healing separately or does the healing split between them? Side Question: can Empowered Spell be used for healing as well as damage?
Twinned Spell can be used with healing spells... the only pre-requisite is that it be a spell that targets a single creature. Each target is treated as though they're the subject of an identical version of the spell, so you don't roll separate healing points for either person... just roll hit points once and both targets receive identical amounts of health.
Empowered Spell cannot be used with healing spells. It specifically only applies to spells that roll for damage, whereas healing spells actually use the phrasing "regain hit points", and not some kind of... reverse damage.

It's this. It's why Divine Soul is very powerful as a healer. Combine that with the 6th level feature that lets you reroll the healing die by spending a point? They're strong, and only considered weak because of the limited spells a Sorcerer has.

As always, it's ultimately up to your DM.
I would be pretty confident in saying that Twinned Spell works on healing spells. The only qualifications are that the spell must be only capable of targeting one creature and gave a range greater than self.
As for how the spell works, I'm not sure. It would be the same as other spells, but I'm unsure if the dice are rolled for each one individually or if it's like casting another spell and so each one treated separately. Perhaps someone more familiar with SA can help there. Online, it seems to say a single roll for both. Honestly though? So lo as you decide before you roll, I don't think it matters. Do long as you're not rolling, seeing the result then deciding "nag, I rolled a 1, I'll do a second roll to see if that's better" or "Sweet! Max healing, I'm gonna use that for both!", then you're good. It's not really an advantage for one or the other if you've decided before the roll what you're going to do.
As for Empowered Spell...that's a bit more dicey (ahem). It explicitly says "damage dice", so itncoukd be argued that healing spells don't damage, and therefore don't have damage dice, therefore they don't work. On the other hand, though could argue that it's just a generic name for the dice you use to determine the magnitude of the effect of the action, and therefore it dies work...speak to your DM. Looking elsewhere, apparently being able to use it for healing is a class ability for Divine Sorcerors. So unless you are one of those, I'd be pretty firm in saying no, since that would be treading on the toes of another subclass.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Additionally, Aura of Vitality is capable of targeting more than one creature. You can hit one creature on turn 1 and a second creature on turn 2. So even a similar spell like Spiritual Weapon, which doesn't have a range of self, is still invalid for twinning.
Even if Aura of Vitality was a valid spell for Twinning, the fact that you've got to use a bonus action to activate its effect means that there'd be no benefit.

Twinned Spell can be used with Healing Word or Cure Wounds. Empowered Spell cannot, since it specifies that the spell has to deal damage.

thanks for all the advice guys
You can however use Empowered on Vampiric Touch (or LIfe Transference if you were a Sorceror/Cleric)
Does Aura of Vitality's selection of one person as a BA make it a candidate for twinning?
The Aura of Vitality has a range of "Self" so it doesn't target a single person.
Additionally, Aura of Vitality is capable of targeting more than one creature. You can hit one creature on turn 1 and a second creature on turn 2. So even a similar spell like Spiritual Weapon, which doesn't have a range of self, is still invalid for twinning.

Would Power Word Heal also be a candidate for Twinned Spell?
Yes, it just costs 9 sorcery points. Actually a fairly reasonable cost for how potent the spell becomes when twinned.
