I'm really excited about the new Wonders of the Multiverse UA, specifically the glitchling race. I'd love to be able to make a glitchling character, but I have no clue what they're supposed to look like. All the UA says in regards to their appearance is that "Glitchlings are winged, human-like creatures made from a merger of magic and machine." They have the Construct creature type and are said to have "metal skin reinforced with armor plates". Other than that, I am lost as to how they're supposed to look.
Yeah, I think of them pretty much as if a modron was more human shaped

I think they're meant to function as modrons for those of us who like modrons, while not actually being modrons for the apparently pretty large contingent of the fanbase who hates them.
This is a great example of why I frequently get annoyed at WotC writers' increasingly prominent policy of leaving things intentionally vague in order to "not restrict players' creative options." If we want to change something for our games we can always just do that but if you're giving us game content at least give a proper physical description. There's a point where "allowing options" becomes a blatant excuse for lazy writing and design, and this situation falls at least a full paragraph on the side of "don't ask us, we're giving you OPTIONS!!!"

Remember, this is playtest for the rules content. When they appear in an actual published product, I'm sure there will be art and more information. Right now they are playtesting rules. So physical descriptions are not their focus with this.
I like to imagine them as clockwork human with maybe some patches of synthetic modron flesh, and of course the wings. If I had to use a reference I’d say something similar to the Kolyarut with modron wings. But with more modron influence.
id also imagine that they’re much more varied than modrons and inevitables since they’re described as having quirks and being able to construct new personalities, which implies that they’re created either by complete chance (which is really cool for creatures which come from a plane of law) or are constructed for specific tasks with an unusual amount of agency and freedom.
I think a lot can be done with these dudes and I’m excited to see them appear in the next book, whatever that may be. Their origin gives them a built in story hook in the question of “why were they sent to the prime material plane, and do they still follow this purpose? Do they’d till struggle with their mechanical overlords watching over them, pressuring them back into their preset path?” They have a lot to work with.

Have you read the racial descriptions in Monsters of the Multiverse? Most get maybe two paragraphs, three tops, and more than a few of those "paragraphs" are literally two sentences. Those rules are play tested and published in both digital and physical hardcopy formats for sale at full retail price. The amount of description and detail given to glitchlings in the UA counts as "medium" by comparison as it is noticeably longer than at least a few of them.
probably not what you're looking for, but I'm a huge fan of the Mechanisms, so I was HYPED when glitchlings dropped. I basically took Raphaella la Cognizi as my main inspo for glitchlings, what with her wings and steampunk aesthetic.
I like to think that Glitchlings don't all look alike and can vary wildly between them with different humanoid postures, proportions, and mannerisms, different wings, different arrangement and shape of armored plates, maybe more than two eyes on some, maybe two eyes in unusual configurations, some being constructs of asymmetrical mismatched parts, and stuff like that. I like to think that each Glitchling appears very unique while sharing the same gameplay stats and gameplay traits.

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.

That is supposed to look humanlike? When I read humanlike, I was thinking something a bit like a winged elf, not a security drone eye.
A caffeinated nerd who has played TTRPGs or a number of years and is very much a fantasy adventure geek.
I think they were being facetious.
That's a picture of a modron: glitchlings are a serial-numbers-blatantly-filed-off copy of the rogue modron PC race from 2nd Edition Planescape.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
