Sooooo…..I went all in and bought all available 5e content so i could have and make available to other players I invite to a campaign. Once One D&D (ODnD) comes out in 2024, will content purchase be updated to reflect new game mechanics? This content purchase was rather expensive and as much as I want to support D&D and everything in it, I would want to know that my money wasn’t wasted being I would have roughly 2yrs to run thru all the campaigns. Thanks in advance for any insight to this.
Judging from previous examples, I'd say not. Obviously, WotC may change their minds...but I don't think that's at all likely.
That said, what is changing is the PHB, and presumably the Monster Manual as well as the DMG. The vast majority of the stuff should work fine - all the adventures almost certainly, the settings most likely, the monster compendiums should be outdated, but still usable. TCoE and XGtE should work. The PHB will be incompatible though, and the DMG will also likely be incompatible.
We'll learn more as it approaches. Your account is less than a month old, so if you are unhappy with those prospects, shoot customer service an email. You might be able to get a refund or store credit that you can spend on 1D&S. No guarantees, but it's worth a shot if it's something you now regret. It's probably a hundred or so bucks, so nothing to be sniffed at.

Thanks. If sourcebooks is all I have to upgrade that’s fine. Just wanted to make sure the backward compatibility will be available for all adventures I purchased. Judging from ‘SagaTympana’ response and the general info posted on 1D&D this should be the case. It states:
What does backward compatible mean?
It means that fifth edition adventures and supplements will work in One D&D. For example, if you want to run Curse of Strahd in One D&D, that book will work with the new versions of the core rulebooks. Our goal is for you to keep enjoying the content you already have and make it even better. You’ll see this in action through the playtest materials, which you will be able to provide feedback on.
Mord's Monsters of the Multiverse (MMM) was supposed to be a sort of "preview" of what to expect in whatever they'll call One D&D (hopefully CD WOTC PROJEKT D&D GOLD 2024). Prior to MMM, D&D Beyond would update monsters based on iterations expressed in new official WotC content. I can't think of anything specific but I think Booming Blade and Green Flame Blade got some revision between books. These updates were automatic whether you had the new book or not and there was no access to prior expressions of the content.
MMM introduced the concept of "legacy" content for player races and monsters that were collected and revised in MMM for folks who owned the content with prior expressions of those monsters and races. The "legacies" are not available for purchase by DDB users who didn't have them already (to some grumbling by folks who feel ... deprived of something).
I think this legacy division or preservation is probably the best a "legacy" user of DDB in 5e can hope for. It does look like character generation is leaning to be a little "different", race choice will lose some significance, background choice gains considerable significance. So the question is will whatever DDB evolves into as it presumably follows One D&D, will it maintain the present 5e manner of "legacy" character generation. I don't believe it would be hard to do so, since it already exists, but I don't have the background in the dev skills that would provide a more accurate speculation. Also begs the question of a "legacy" generated characters compatibility with "New D&D feats and what not".
Another hints from One D&D to date that does make one wonder: magic works a bit differently too, at least in the way it's organized, so we'd also need a "legacy" organization of magic at least in terms of spell lists. I don't know but could imagine that means we may well have "legacy" spells and "new D&D spells" sharing names.
This might be frustrating to some users (there's some, not much, noise about "legacy" content organization as it is) I think it may be that if you're a dedicated 5e player, there may be some minor frustrations in working in the space of whatever DDB becomes in the One D&D future.
Homebrew might get weird too.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
I’m still trying to find time to becoming a more dedicated player. For now, I’m still learning the nuances of the sourcebook materials. Through the passage of time, I’m sure (at least hopeful) that I’ll be able to devote more time to the craft. I’m enamored with the worlds built thru DND and honestly this community is just ’the bee’s knees’. I feel like Bastian Bux reading the Never Ending Story under a blanket by a candle. Thank you all for this feeling!
I expect that their will be some issues that will be left for indivisual groups to work out how to push 5e into 1 D&D. We have seen the playtest for character creation and while not final it indicates the sort of thing we can expect to see.
For example in the play test material only player's will be able to make critical hits. Say to want to play a grave cleric there is no plan to update XGTE so Grave Cleric wil lnot be updated. The level 6 feature is useless if the monsters can not score critical hits so RAW you can still play a grave cleric you just wont get a feature at level 6 (or more likely your DM homebrews something appropriate).
The biggest difficulty I see is with the change to feats. It seems fairly certain feats in one D&D will all be assigned a level, which is the minimum level at which you can take the feat, it is not clear if WotC will publish a level for feats in places like XGtE and Tasha's but how do you fit that into a game where up to this point you can pick any feat at any level. A table can decide what they want to do but it is like to require some work.

Almost certainly not, though the new edition (such as it is) is intended to be backwards compatible.
This gives me hope! Thanks!!
