It was on all of the pre-order information. Pre-order and you get it 2 weeks earlier.
They might have removed it from the website but this video still says it'll release early on Feb 7th so I will be very annoyed if it doesn't - https://youtu.be/RhwUWke8w3I?t=320
and in the video you posted it says the 2 weeks early is for the bundle
Admittedly I never checked the release date being quoted on the digital version but the whole reason I preordered the bundle was because that was the one that said it gave early access, both on DDB and on the release video
What I don’t get is why any of you are surprised? After all of the recent fiascos of terrible content, not meeting release dates and the explosion over the OGL, why on earth did you think it would be a magically perfect release for this product?
There is a difference between giving a good faith date that is evidently subject to change that isn't accepting payments and giving a date of release with preorders then changing the date without prior notification - and in this case, not even post-facto notification. If there were a technical fault, fine, but they should have put out a message saying they're having problems and will have to delay for a couple of days or whatever.
Instead, they put out false advertisement, accepted money in return for it, and then post-hoc changed the terms of the deal without even bothering to inform people of the change. That's not on.
I'm willing to accept that it was a genuine mistake. Mistakes happen (although, it does seem to happen rather too often with these products) and maybe the person who created the advert thought it was for all digital copies, not just bundles, and so advertised it as such. They then realised the error later. However, this potentially could have cost customers money (I know my plan was to get it and then book tables at my FLGS that would have cost money..****y to have no book to use) and it's in DDB to make things right for their error. Not just a refund, but actually do something to make up for them messing customers about. Either just release it to those who bought it before the advert changed or a discount. Or something.
I try to be fair to companies, but they're botching things all the time now...and whenever WotC have been involved (even DDB stuff, since they became part of WotC), they don't seem to get that they need to make it up to their customers when they wrong them.
I was considering going to DDB for a lot of stuff that I'm buying for D&D. It's episodes like this, how they handled the Hadozee and other things that are making me rethink that decision very carefully.
