Does anybody know of a monster that has the ability to sacrifice allied creatures to provide some benefit, such as regaining hit points? I thought I've seen something like that, but I can't remember where.
The only one I can think of at the moment is the Goblin Boss. It's not regaining HP but basically negates damage by throwing another goblin infront of him. I'm sure there's something else though.

It's not specifically sacrificing allies, but the updated necromancer wizard can use a reaction to regain HP when it kills anything with necrotic damage
Considering it can summon undead minions, has a base necrotic damage attack and can also lay down a big necrotic AoE in circle of death, it can pretty easily turn its zombies into little healing batteries

Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
I'm no monster expert, but if I wanted something of that type, I would select a monster I like, then Homebrew it to have an ability "Sacrifice Minion" It would be an ability where the monster consumes the minion, and gains either 1/2 the HP consumed, or a fixed amount (maybe 25 HP per minion) Using a standard monster and homebrewing an ability, to me, is a lot of fun, especially where my group is fairly seasoned players and have, as a result, seen and know a fair bit about a lot of monsters. Having a monster they "know" pull an unexpected move mid fight is so joyous to behold, the chaos, the hoots, the body hitting the floor.....oh.....oops, maybe I made that ability a bit too strong. Hmmm, well, it appears the monster had a scroll of resurrection on him which is my version of "DM underestimated how big an impact that new ability would have"

The Corpse Flower can pick up any dead bodies that are lying around and convert them to HP.
I can think of some 4th edition monsters with sacrifice minion abilities, but not 5th edition.
Love the Goblin Boss. Such a fun monster!
There’s vampires with their life drain. If their minions are willing creatures, the vamp can just hurt them to heal itself.

And with their charm ability, they can do it to the heroes!
Oh, just found a monster that does this: aboleth.
In addition to consuming their minions in some fashion, you could also have the monster use the minions as shields or ammunition.
