Which method is best for creating your own maps as in what programs to use? Does anybody know if they are going to add drawing tools to create your own maps on beyond?
I'm sure others can provide better advice than I could. However, with respect to DDB, maybe? There's a small chance. They're pretty busy with all the new stuff coming so I'm dubious they'll be adding much new stuff that isn't necessary to push 1D&D and their VTT. That said, they might justify it to make their VTT a onestop shop. I'm guessing not though - 3D stuff maybe, but 2D will probably work similarly to Roll20 where you do the maps elsewhere and import them in. You then modify it to make it work with the VTT.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

You don't have to draw maps in the tool itself - Maps already allows you to upload any map image you want. So you can either pick your favorite art/drawing program, or just download one of the thousands and thousands of TTRPG map images on the web. You can even draw a map IRL on a dry-erase flipmat or a napkin, take a picture of that and upload it.
