Warlocks will be wondering why they have to pay a invocation for each of those.
I can only pray that their 5th-9th level spells ease their pain somewhat 😛
Lol. Though in all honestly it feels off to me. I'm not saying niche protection is the most important thing in the universe but that was their gimmick.Mechanically outside oddball infiltrator etc style builds with just mask of many faces type stuff, it is what defined the warlocks overall play style and was basically why eldritch blast was good. I wish they could have come up with something else for fighters that felt mechanically unique instead of just taking the warlocks gimmick.
Why didn't they spill the tea on Psi Warrior?! I almost flipped the table when they just ended the interview like that!
Treantmonk dropped a hint (or as much of one as he could given his ongoing NDA.) Basically it should be identical to its Tasha's incarnation, however he also mentioned that there was one wording change that "gives you more incentive to stick with Fighter." And that was all we got.

So originally I thought you meant the fact that UA Pact of the Blade gives Warlock the Mastery property of the chosen weapon (which I voted against in the survey, I think that should be a martial thing they need to multiclass for or at the very least a subclass thing like maybe that's what the new Hexblade gets you now that Hex Warrior is basically Pact of the Blade.) But now I'm confused and not sure what gimmick you're referring to. If anything, Warlock is stealing from Fighter, not the other way around.

I'm talking about the multiple pushes, slows etc. That style of battlefield control was pretty much the warlocks gimmick. The fighter gets it early and can choose it daily, then at 9th they don't even need to choose it, they have a 3 pack of battlefield control that the warlock has to pay for with invocations with things like repelling blast, and I suspect the fighter will just be better at it.
Edit to add, and yeah I voted against pact of the blade getting weapon masteries as well. That should be the fighters thing. But repelling blast should be the warlocks thing.

Ah, I understand you now. But I disagree - keep in mind the Warlock gets to do all their push/pull stuff from range, and as early as level 2; the Fighter doesn't get to slap those things on their ranged weapons until level 9, and they never get to pull. Even the one ranged push they get natively, Heavy Crossbow, basically needs a feat tax (way worse than an invocation tax) to let you get multiple pushes with it. So I think the Warlock still has a decisive edge when it comes to controlly attacks.
We just premiered the overview of the 2024 Fighter! What do you think so far?
What do I think so far? These uber-buffs are ridiculous, and DM's are going to have massive headaches. Further, these additional layers of complexity, as crawford admits when he says the term "just became a more intricate mini-game" at 6:10, will slow the game down even further. Players will struggle even more to keep things straight.
I get why wotc does it. The only way to sell 6e (and yes, when you can't use a 2024 PC in 2014 game mechanics, as crawford said in the last video, it is a new edition) is to buff everybody's PC. There is no other reason for players to switch over to 6e. So so many people believe that more powerful PC's = "more fun", and newer is always better. Both those concepts are wrong.
There is no way getting around it. The DM's will have a much harder time dealing with player builds, and because increased complexity of these builds, players will make even more errors, and will allow even more opportunity for cheating, since DM's will not be able to keep up with all the complexity, while running a game. Of course, if the idea is to phase out human DM's with an AI driven VTT aka video game, then yeah, these buffs make some sense. Because I know of at least 3 DM's that are adamant they will never move to 6e.
