So the phb was avaible at gen con, youtubers been given permission to talk about it and the SRD is not coming out till when? They said not till 'all the books are out' so.. That mean till DMG in November or the mm in February? That's not for 197 days. So I'm just confused couldn't wotc just release the srd now and ppl buy the phb for the sake of art next month? I mean at least a 'quickstart' version be decent.
They have been very open and clear on this. They want the SRD to be a single reference document representing the totality of the licensed materials - that is better for everyone, since it limits the confusion having multiple different versions or documents might create. That means the SRD will contain components of the PHB, DMG, and MM. Releasing the SRD immediately would also be releasing large components of the DMG and MM early.
Really not that big of a deal, particularly since you can backend in some of the materials by referencing the 2014 SRD and tacitly understanding all those old references will be updated to the 2024 references.
The current SRD 5.1 contains the core rules of Dungeons & Dragons—from classes to monsters—and serves as a foundation for materials you create for fifth edition D&D. As the 2024 rules revisions update this edition of the game, we will be expanding the current SRD after the release of all three revised core rulebooks.
SRD 5.2 will include material from the 2024 Player’s Handbook and Dungeon Master’s Guide, and the 2025 Monster Manual. As these books build off one another, and we don’t want to release an incomplete document to creators, SRD 5.2 will drop after the Monster Manual releases in February 2025. Nevertheless, we are working to get SRD 5.2 released quicker than ever before.

Why would Wizards release all of the content for free months before they get the books into peoples hands, and also let third party content creators the ability to piggy back off it before they get their chance?
The SRD isn't just PHB stuff - it also contains DMG things (e.g. Traps, Madness, Disease) and MM statblocks. You know, the things they're still working on. A little patience is in order.

Oh sorry I thought they could just release phb...
Yeah, unfortunately we have to wait for everything. In one video JC mentioned they are still working on the MM so not everything is set in stone yet.

This is all about the SRD…but I wonder about the Basic Rules. The PHB portion could theoretically be released early.
When you look at the current Basic Rules, the Essentials Rulebook is a PHB-only subset standalone doc.
