Wondering if a 1-level dip into War Cleric is worth it?
Bonus action: Trying to maximize this. My only use would be Fighting Spirit, which only has 3 uses until level 10. Weaponizing my bonus action even a couple times, along with spells like Bless, Shield of Faith, and Divine Favor seems pretty decent.
Honestly, this depends a lot on the pace of your campaign. If you're getting a lot of multi-encounter days it's viable; if most of your combat days only have 1 or 2 encounters then you might be overfilling your tray a bit.
Also as a personal note it's a bit game-y to dip Cleric on a Fighter like that unless you've got backstory to support it, but that's just one man's opinion on the interplay of mechanics and roleplay.
It would be easier to talk to your DM and see what they can help you swing to gain something -- understanding that you may have to give something up to achieve that goal.
In my opinion, at least.
My big thing about multiclassing is that has to be justified in game.
So justifying a dip like that for a mechanical benefit is going to be extremely hard.
But my games also always start at level 1, and there are costs for training and risks associated with turning one's back on a faith, and other things that are particular to the world itself. A cleric who opts to stop being a cleric is going to lose abilities, not retain them, and one that seeks to remain a cleric while doing something else is going to be limited in what something else they can do by the tenets of their faith.
And yes, that means clerics on my world are tied to a deity, not to an idea. Paladins, too.
I don't know your game or your DM, though -- they could be totally fine with it. I only comment to show that sometimes looking for a mechanical benefit can come with costs, if your DM isn't involved.

Good thoughts. I am new to D&D (5 sessions?). Some of the other players have multiclassed. I am actually inclined to go full Samurai but noticed my compatriots all have stuff to do with their bonus actions.
So just exploring ways to make best use of my bonus action when not using Fighting Spirit, which only has 3 uses.

Or maybe another domain? Thoughts?
