Hello, all. I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I couldn't find a thread about it. Has anyone else had difficulty aligning the premade maps from the adventure modules on D&D Beyond? I can save a map from D&D Beyond and import it into Foundry VTT without any problems. However, when I align the grid on the left side of the map with the grid drawn on the map, the spacing does not remain uniform all the way across to the right. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this?
I struggle with this too so much that I usually make my own version of the map in dungeondraft or look on reddit for a fan made map. It's really frustrating because it should be so easy.
Trying to align grids is often impossible unless you make the map yourself. One solution is to use one or the other, in other words if the map has a grid on it, shut off the grid in the VTT (gridless). Otherwise your players are stuck trying to decipher to competing grids.

Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
One of the things you have to aware of when digital mapping for VTT's the resolution matters and each VTT has its own default resolution for instance roll20 it is 70px, maptool is 50px what this means is that if your maps resolution is not evenly divisible by those numbers you will have mismatched grids
There is a spreadsheet that will help you resize a map to the closest measurements to allow the grid to work Map Scale Tool it is not perfect, but it can get you close.
Another issue is that some maps of published adventures have grids that don't line up between rooms. Each room has its own grid applied, that doesn't account for the space on the map between rooms. It isn't possible to line those up, without making each room its own map.

If I have to do the work to redo the map grid, I might try splitting the rooms into layers in photoshop, setting up the grid, and then moving the rooms to fit. Who knows?
