I appreciate that the various trackers from the DMG are available as PDFs online. When looking at the Bastion tracker, it's a one page PDF file. I recommend offering a two page PDF file (so you could print them front and back on the same sheet) where the second page is laid out as a grid for ease of drawing the floor plan of your (or your adventuring group's) Bastion. Sure, I know you could draw it out on a separate sheet of paper, but I think keeping the map and the list of Bastion features on the same piece of paper would reduce the chances of misplacing one. This map sheet could even include a legend reminding people of the basics of a Bastion (the three sizes of spaces, that you get two basic facilities, what non-facility features it can have like closets, corridors etc., walls, and doors and windows, etc.)
I don't remember, was it an optional rule in the playtests? If not, then I'd say they could implement it as an optional rule, for tables that like the idea of building their own stronghold with facilities and people working there. While everyone else could just ignore it completely.

I'm afraid WotC designers don't hang out on these forums to pick up idea and they're definitely not going to be able to change something that's already been printed and gone on sale

My home game has a ton of book keeping and we just use a shared google sheet for this kind of thing and it works well.
I suggest making a column for each room and a row for each bastion turn, then just write the outcomes for each room in the cells.
You can use additional tabs to make floorplans and things, as well https://xender.vip/ .
