Hello all I am new to DND beyond and maps. I would like to add monsters and NPC's to a map in our campaign. Some monsters says the token isnt in the DM's content library.
1. where is the content library?
2. how can i add more monsters to it.
I purchased the monsterous compendium2 in the 12 days of christmas give away and i dont know how to access that and if it crosses over to the maps section. can someone help me understand more about the maps portion. perhaps a link to instructions. Thanks in advance. Chris.

You can only add monsters from books that you own (your content library). Everything from the content you own should be in there, but if you don't own any books that contain monster stat blocks, there won't be much to use.

If you purchase the Monster Manual it would seem reasonable that they are available in your content library for Maps. Why has DnD Beyond not actioned this?

If you purchase the Monster Manual, then all the monsters it are available in Maps. This already exists.
Hello. I had problem. We have a setting with shared DMs and yesterday it was my turn. I created homebrew monsters and we had to use the account of the campaign owner, which is not me, to use maps. My homebrew monsters can be found in "extras" but I was unable to find them on maps.

As already explained in Post 2 as well as the video posted in Post 3 : to use a monster in the Maps tool you must own the content. Therefore the campaign owner cannot use your homebrew or anyone else's and can only use monsters that are part of free rules, that they have purchased or homebrew they have created.

Thank you very much for the clarification. Is it known, whether WotC intends to solve this issue? The new Dungeons Master Guide describes shared DM-ing in a campaign but only the campaign owner can use Maps in his campaign and use the self-created homebrew monsters. To me, this seems like an issue that should be addressed. I would also like to access maps via my account in our campaign (although I am not the owner) or use at least my/our homebrew monsters. Otherwise shared DM-ing is not possibile with Maps.
It is possible that Content Sharing will eventually be enabled for Maps, although I cannot recall seeing any official statement on the matter. However, it seems very intended for only the campaign owner to be able to use the Maps tool so I do not think that will ever change.

Thank you both. My son and I sort of figured out a work around. I was able to make the "monsters" that i needed in the homebrew section.
