The Beyond map tool is not particularly effective for play by post/play by forum games. It times out after a while, so unless the players are on within an hour or so (I haven't figured out the exact timeout time) of the DM "starting a session" on the map, they won't be able to view and interact with it. If the DM will be around pretty often to re-activate the map, and/or the players are all online and playing at roughly the same time, it could work. I use it and snap screenshots to paste into my posts, but you could do that with just about every other map tool out there.
Can the map function be used to track combat and the like for PBF games?
Or does it just make sense for real time games?
Having a common map people can easily access would be really nice.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the reply.
