I've been reading about those. They sound interesting but not sure that a Nephilim would be playable lol.
It was something I was curious about because I was thinking of homebrewing a race for those who didn't want to be a Tiefling or Aasimar, but wanted that celestial or fiendish bloodline.
I came across a Nephilim homebrew for.d&d when reading about them, but it looks a bit wrong to me.
Sadly, because other Nephilim material from mythology looks quite interesting.

There are a couple of different variants of nephilim in mythology.
I've been thinking of making a nephilim monster homebrew for a half angel, half demon.
I wouldn't advise this concept for an adventurer race though. Angels and demons are pretty high CR, and anything that does the union justice would be too strong in my opinion. (Doesn't mean you can't make one, just try to balance it against other races).

Basically, the way I would do it would be to strip away all their abilities and skills and give them back as they level up.
So as a Nephilim, you would start out with a naturally high CON and DEX and innate spell casting.
So say, you could cast at will, without any material components and without using a spell slot, either fly or blade ward or darkness (you choose one)
That way, you get the feel of being this extreemly powerful being without actually being extreemly powerful.
Then as you level.up, you "unlock" more of your Nephilim abilities.
At level 20, you become extremely powerful. All your stats become 20, you you gain a natural AC of 15 and you unlock the true power of the Nephilim. You no longer age and that kind of thing.
So if you play beyond level 20, you will have survived long enough that you no longer need to hide who you are.
You become truly legendary indeed. Perhaps even the first of your kind to attain their true power.

You would get a being of terrible power, enough to scare even God themself into leaving their throne and go into hiding. But as it would be an infant, it would need to graft itself onto someone else's soul to get some form of direction for its powers. These powers could manifest, for example, as the ability to command anyone to do anything in their power to do.
After that, you'd need to get the graftee's hillbilly family involved somehow, as well as ancient conspiracies based around keeping bloodlines pure to the point of severe interbreeding, and other fun stuff.
5e doesn't have a straight answer for this, but other editions have. And yeah, like others have said, the result is a nephilim, and they've been both weak enough to be a player race or OP enough to end campaigns. Just depends on what monster manual you've picked up.
How about just a regular human? The two halves cancel each other out and this poor creature has to deal with a family of super-powered divine beings. Demons who berate them for mortal weakness and (maybe even out to kill) while Angels scoff at their inability to ascend to a rightful place in the holy order, refusing to help.
You would likely get what is known as a Nephilim, commonly called giants by ancient biblical figures. Such figures as Nimrod, who built the Tower of Babel, were Nephilim, and the famous Goliath(of the David and Goliath story) was believed to be of Nephilim descent. That's only within the more obscure biblical texts though.

Nah, you'd get a being of negated powers and all abilities are straight 9 across the board.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
I believe that it would be a race that could focus on one of there sides but have some of there other bloodlines powers for example say Joseph focused on his celestial side he gets the standard deva ability’s as he levels but he might also have a fiendish charm ability like a cambion or if vilith focuses on her demon side so she would have the standard sucubus ability’s as she levels up but she also might have resistance to radent damge as she levels
It would be a creature that could really look weird, with no controllable special powers, but has to roll on a "is this the apocalypse now?" table everytime it takes damage.
Abyssal Angel 😇 I have one I plan to use shortly... Massive lore and backstory on it and it's great to play with the different options to build your entity. 😁 I am a true abomination haha

In a 5e based world (sand assuming this would be the first child of its kind), what would happen if an Angel and a Demon had a child together?
Born of two worlds, each others strengths balancing out each others weaknesses.
Would this be something the Gods would take notice of?
What do you think would happen to the child and it's parents?
I am really curious.

You'd get Matt Mercer
"Not all those who wander are lost"
Who wouldn't want Matt Mercer in their game lol

I would argue that you might end up with some sort of aasimar or tiefling if the child ended up being somewhat humanoid.
You'd get a Nephalem in the right universe... wink

Guys, pls."

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
The universe ends and a new, even weirder one begins.
Some say this has already happened.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
I wouldn't so much 1 up that as exponential up that and call it a recurrence.
Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
Sounds like a quote from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy :)
