I had a "can't touch this" monk. Level 3 Aaracokra way of the sun soul. 60 ft fly speed 30 ft radiant bolt. Used it in a oneshot. I don't blame my DM for banning it, but I want to play it to higher levels.
Changeling warlock of a trickster god, thinks he's a cleric of the trickster god, goes around pretending to be a cleric of other gods.
So just to clarify, is it a celestial patron warlock?
Yea, sorry, left that out. Also would ideally have Glamoured Studded Leather and would be able to use a holy symbol of another god as warlock focus while masquerading as a cleric of that god.
A small race cavalier/beast master. save up for an exotic saddle and you get some interesting mounts
A Jekyll and Hyde barbarian/bladesinger for some ridiculous naked AC, probably have to ask your DM for them to be human as you need str, dex, con and int. My thinking was some conjuration spell gone wrong and is now possessed. Maybe the haunted one background.
Paladin/Celestial patron warlock. You are literally visited by an servant of your god.
A Firbolg girl, kidnapped by a cult of Yuan-ti worshipers, who intend to user her as a sacrifice to transform themselves into Yuan-ti. Except they misunderstood the ritual, and they were all the sacrifice to transform her into a Yuan-ti. Side effect of the ritual also creates a forced linkage between her and some unfathomable entity (GOO-Lock). Tainted by both her transformation and her connection of eldritch horror, her clan refused to take her back, and even the creatures of the forest recoil from her in horror. She's now cursed to live alone, with only snakes to keep her company, an unloved orphan in a world that looks upon her with mistrust and fear.

Playing off of Celtic Lore, make it a Fairy or other Fey creature, riding a Corgi. That's what the black patch on the back of a Pembroke Corgi is called -- a Fairy Saddle. Legend has it that, when traveling long distances, Fairies would ride Corgis, and thus the saddle came to be.
I'd love to play a druid that comes from a family of rangers/druids who moved to a city leaving that type of life behind because of [somebad/eye-opening/mind-blowing event] they strongly encouraged their son to just be a guard it something.
So it won't be the good ol always dirty druid, but a young naive kid that's impressed by nature as soon as he experiences it first hand on an adventure

Oh did not know that. My inspiration came from warhammer goblin spider riders
I have far too many characters, and most of them are based off of weird concepts, these are some of my favorites, feel free to steal any of them:
Drow Necromancer named something like Malagaloth who is just the nicest guy
Archaeologist warlock who joined into a pact unintentionally while on a dig
Warforged barbarian who has two separate souls shoved into one body that switch mid sentence, one is nice and sounds like Yes man from fallout NV, and the other is a psycho murderer. Whole concept is based off of E.M.E.T. from that evolve game. (very similar to Mikaos' Jekyll and Hyde concept) Bonus: I ran him as a berserker barbarian in a one shot and when he frenzied it was a fiery overclock.
An oath of devotion paladin who is incredibly incompetent and uses his high charisma to convince people he knows what he is doing.
Warforged druid that acts more like a transformer when transforming into animals
Dragonborn tempest cleric who seeks to garner favor with his god via growing his legend, hoping to one day become his god's champion

~If I were a D&D race it would be an Aarakocra, because when I DM I usually wingit.~

Basically this, but as a wizard with the Charlatan background, but the Folk Hero Feature that makes commoners want to help you.
Congrats. You have Gilderoy Lockhart. For bonus points, take Modify Memory.
Yeah basically. I didn't get to play him that much because the game fell through, but in those 2-3 sessions I think my favorite moment with him was when he realized he was the only one in the party without darkvision and starting screeching like a bat when they were in a cave. And when someone asked what he was doing and when he responded "Holy Echolocation" I rolled really high on deception because of his charisma. Totally recommend a build like that if you enjoy more lighthearted characters because its a lot of fun.

~If I were a D&D race it would be an Aarakocra, because when I DM I usually wingit.~
A full-blooded orc(the race can honestly be whatever) wizard who only takes one level in wizarding and takes the rest in barbarian. His story is his parents wanted him to study to become a wizard and forced him to study to be a wizard. But after leaving he learned he doesn't have to listen to them, so he follows his dreams and becomes a barbarian for the rest of his level.
I haven't been able to play these characters yet, but I sort of want to in the future:
1. A bugbear Wild Sorceror who was once a human noble that got smacked with a portal to Limbo during a hunting trip, giving him his current form and powers.
2. A Yuan-Ti pureblood who was adopted by some paladins of Torm or somone like that, essentially because they realized that he was damaged as an egg(?) and thus wouldn't be a threat even if Yuan-ti are inherently evil. He was raised in the temple and became a Zealot barbarian essentially because he didn't have the mental stats necessary to be a paladin. So pretty much the exact opposite of what a Yuan-Ti should be.
3. A drow Light cleric who wants to reform her society from the inside because she realizes that culture based off the teachings of a friggin' Demon Lord is messed up and can't really go much further, with all the constant back stabbing and stuff.
A character I want to play in the future is a shy Fire Genasi Sorcerer with the Draconic Bloodline (Gold Dragon).
His lineage: dad: Fire Genasi mom: Sun Elf <-- dad: Sun Elf, mom: Gold Dragon who turned into a Sun Elf
When he was a child bandits attacked the artisan shop of his parents. He was terrified and out of reflex casted a Fireball which exploded in his face and knocked him out. His parents got off with just a fright, but he himself wasn't as lucky, because the fireball burned the right side of his face. After that experience he became a bit timid and tries to avoid making hasty decisions. He wants to become a jeweler, having inherited his love for gems, perls and "pretty things" from his Gold Dragon grandmother.
I had an idea for a lizard person moon druid trapped in a glacier from the dawn of time. They thaw out in current day and only wild shape into dinosaurs.
A Celestial Aasamir Warlock who's patron is their mother. The patron is a Deva who had a child with a human. She randomly shows up in non-combat situations and is an overbearingly protective mother, treating the character as a fragile child, and constantly embarrassing the character in front of everyone.
A Noble Fighter who travels with a servant carrying around a bag of different weapons, everything from a hand crossbow to a halberd. He can use most weapons effectively and treats combat like a game of golf. Before combat begins, he consults his servant about which weapon would be most effective. He gets upset if everyone is not quiet when he attacks, and will refuse to use a weapon after a bad string of misses (or crit fail).
Noble barbarian with the tavern brawler feat, wears cloths of mending and wields a cleansing stone as an improvised weapon (technically magic for bypassing damage resistance) obsessed with cleanliness and bows up into a rage when something gets him dirty.

If you have any ideas for fun, interesting, or weird (mechanically or story-wise) builds, put them here!
i like linguistics and, well, d&d, obviously. this bio hadn't been updated for 3 years so i figured i'd do that.

I personally would love to play a shy Kobold Barbarian Path of the Zealot.
Dragonborn fiend warlock. Accidental pact to Baphomet, thinking they were making a pact with Bahamut.
