What does the Rage feature look like? I have entered in a macro that just says Rage: +2, but you have on the site that you support Rage. I'm wondering why that isn't showing up on my options/features. Thanks for the support. This looks like an amazing time saver and I am rolling my first campaign with it tomorrow night.
Been using Beyond20 since march and it's so cool. I just wonder how will this work with the new dice rolling thing DDB is implementing in the near future and that looks so great.
Is there a chance that the results of the dices you roll on your character's sheet could be displayed on roll20 ? Or am I just dreaming there ?
It's on the main options page for beyond20 asw a toggle. It only shows for barbarians.
Rage: You are raging, ARRGGHHHHHH
Add Rage damage to melee attacks and add advantage to Strength checks and saving throws
For some reason not showing up for me. I even tried to recreate a new barbarian and still am not getting that option.
edit: Have now tried both Chrome and Firefox... Is there something in browser settings I need to unblock?
edit2: Figured it out. Apparently I never clicked on features and traits tab on dnd beyond character sheet. This is a necessary step.... Thanks everyone!

That is strange, and should not have been necessary. I play a Barb, and the option is available in the Beyond20 options pop-up regardless of what part of the DDB character sheet I'm looking at. BTW, that pop-up is also available from Roll20 - click the red d20 down in the bottom rt corner of the Chat window.

You dont have to constantly look at it. You just have to had tabbed to it once so Beyond 20 can suck it in. I found that in their FAQs.

Ah - interesting. I must have done that some time ago without realizing it "activated" anything within Beyond20.
Hold up walk me through this slowly how you get rage to work? I've been making custom attack actions that have the extra rage damage added.
All you should have to do is when you have Beyond 20 installed is go to your character sheet and click on the Features and Traits tab next to Actions Equipment and it Beyond 20 should suck in that feature and then when you click on the Beyond 20 button at the top of your character sheet you will have a toggle for Rage.
Sorry for being so absent in this thread lately, I'm extremely busy and every time I want to reply, there's more stuff to reply to, making it easier to procrastinate! I just want to thank everyone who showed their appreciation! So thanks, and you're welcome, and it makes me happy to see people excited and loving Beyond20!
Note, by the way, I've been streaming almost daily now my development sessions on Beyond20, so if anyone is interested, they can follow me on twitch (note that it is going to be pretty boring, but we can chat if I'm not too concentrated on some logic problem) : https://www.twitch.tv/kakarotodm
I'm going to reply now to everyone's last comments, and skipping those who already got their questions answered from someone else, in order to keep this as short as possible :)
Is there good instructions for using Beyond20? Most of the things are pretty self explanatory, but I'm trying to figure out how to do disadvantage, for stealth checks, for example... Also, how to do Bardic inspiration...
I guess later comments helped you figure out how to to disadvantage quickly, but just click on the Beyond20 extension icon in your character sheet to get the options where you can tell it how you want your rolls to be.
You can click on the bardic inspiration feature in your actions list and click the B20 button there to roll the dice.
My group is also entirely in love with your extension, and I sent you some gold for food for your familiar as a thank you for your effort. It made it possible, and enjoyable, to move our game to play online, and we're having a blast. Thank you, keep up the good work!
Hey! I was checking out Beyond20 and noticed a potential issue that I thought you might want to know about. Playing as a rogue, after level 11 you get “Reliable Talent” which treats any proficient skill check rolls 9 or below as a 10. I noticed that when you roll with Beyond20, it doesn’t account for that and will still show your 9 or below rolls as being that number plus your proficiency mod.
I’m sure that making it completely ignore 9 or below rolls after the rogue gets that perk would be bad, in case the DM wants to rule it out or something, but could there be a way to switch “reliable talent rolls” on when the character has it so that it will show the proficient skill check rolls as being at least 10 plus proficiency?
Reliable Talent isn't currently support as a special feature, but someone notified me about its existence and I expected it to be supported for next release, follow up on its progress here : https://github.com/kakaroto/Beyond20/issues/158
Have to star by saying that my whole group loves Beyond20. We usually play live and some of the group use DnDBeyond for their character but this sitiuation forced us all to switch to roll20 + dndbeyond.
As a group we have everything unlocked on DnDBeyond but only a Plus level subscription on Roll20. The main quality of life improvement we could all see is the ability to either import the Beyond20 enabled sheet directly to Roll20 or enable a feature to just drag or copy macros from the Beyond20 sheet to the VTT.
Is there a way or plan to integrate one of these features without cashing out on the PRO version of Roll20?
Cash is tight currently for all of us, and depending on how the Covid situation resolves itself, we may ditch VTT's alltogether in the near future.
Well, the point of Beyond20 is to not import anything but to keep using D&D Beyond for your character sheet. I don't have a pro or even plus subscription to roll20 anymore, so none of the beyond20 features require that. Importing characters is a very different beast and I'm not ready or willing to enter that territory any time soon.
Absolutely love this extension, it makes everything so much easier, especially with more people using VTTs during lockdown, perfect timing for this! Thanks for doing all this hard work!
I was about to suggest a feature of being able to easily roll with advantage/disadvantage, but I tried what I thought would be a possibility, and holding down left Ctrl whilst clicking on the beyond 20 button automatically rolled with disadvantage!
Are there any other button bindings that work? I'd love if we could have Left Alt roll with advantage or something, but either way this is a great hidden gem as I don't think that holding Ctrl to roll with disadvantage is mentioned anywhere in the tooltips, is it possible to display the shortcuts somewhere?
Thanks again!
Cam
Ha, yes! I forgot to add it as a note under the roll type setting for people to learn about it. There's just shift/ctrl/alt right now, though I want to make those bindings customizable and add bindings for whispers as well. Perhaps in the next release ;)
holding down left Ctrl whilst clicking on the beyond 20 button automatically rolled with disadvantage!
OMFG!!! I never knew you could do that, it works! I just tried holding down shift and it rolls with advantage. :) - What other forms of black magic are hiding from us?? Rolling for an investigation check.....
Damn, guys - great find! Thanks for sharing!
Okay! Just been mashing my keyboard keys to find if there are any other options,
Shift + Click = Advantage
Ctrl (cmd for Mac) + Click = Disadvantage
Hope thing helps, looking forward to see if there are any other combinations :D
Thank you
lol, it was a lot of fun seeing you all trying everything and discovering the various shortcuts :D
Many thanks KaKaRoToDM, your efforts have made a huge difference for our groups during these indoors-y-days! :)
I keep discovering more and more nice features that enhance my play and I try to keep up-to-date with the upcoming features also.
That said I have one question and a minor, I hope, request to add to the list... :P
Is it possible to separate the display of additional damage rolls/types further or is this a Roll20 or DnD Beyond limitation? What I mean is that an attack displays all primary damage (say slashing for a longsword) on the left-hand side and then there's a separator and all additional damage is displayed smushed into the right-hand side. Would it be possible to have more separators, essentially creating a 3+ split of damage boxes when you have a lot of additional damage types?
Say weapon damage + Hex + Booming Blade + Smite to give an example.
Second, as Smite is already supported for Paladins would it be possible to add support for a Warlock's Eldritch Smite Invocation? Ideally in such a way that it can be track whether the attack was a normal hit or a crit and roll the appropriate damage as well.
Thanks again!
If you use Foundry VTT or the integrated dice roller, you'll see that each damage is separate and totals are calculated. in Roll20, it's not possible (unless you use the 'others' template) because Roll20's template only supports 2 damage types. I thought today about sending them separately as new messages, but then it wouldn't be able to do the critical damage calculation automatically.. needless to say, working around roll20 limitations is a challenge.
Eldritch Smite is a choice you have to make, and it uses a spell slot so it can't be added automatically. Paladin's Smite is because at level 11 (I think?) it automatically adds damage to all weapon attacks and that's what it means when B20 supports it, it's because it auto adds it. Pre-level 11, the smite that paladins have to expend spell slots for still require the player to open their smite feature and roll from there.
I had a different template selected when I created the game on Roll20. Once I changed it to "5e by Roll20", everything works fine.
With the number of new users discovering Beyond20, I've had this question come up so often that I've looked for a way to find which sheet template is used in Roll20 so now I will remove that setting and I will automatically display things properly based on the sheet template used in that game (with a warning for the first roll to the player so they know why things aren't displaying properly).
We noticed tonight that if a mage upcasts Magic Missile, it still only rolls damage for the first one. Not sure if that is correct or not.
Yes, this is on purpose, you click once per missile/ray. Assume you say "cast as level 2" but you click by mistake on it as level 1 and you launch 3.. now you want to add one more, you can't! Having it launch one missile at a time gives the power to the user to launch them as needed. Same applies for why I don't roll all attacks twice if the player has extra attack (which wouldn't work in opportunity attacks for example).

I have received early access to the new digital dice and will be working on integrating the two. I have some great ideas on how to do it, and can't wait to get started on it :)

Make sure the Character Sheet Template in the settings for the Roll20 server are set to use "D&D 5E by Roll20" if not it will just be blank. the Beyond 20 app uses this template specifically to do the rolls in the chat. If set to something else it will not work. If you don't have control over the server ask the DM to set it and if not the only other option is to change the output of Beyond 20 to use the setting "other templates" under the Beyond 20 setting of "Roll 20 Character Sheet Setting" the only two options are the correct one "D&D 5E by Roll20" and "Other templates". When you use the other templates you will have to do some math as it will show the rolls but will list all modifers and bonuses seperately and you will have to manually tell someone what the roll was but it will roll - just not pretty and configured with an output solution.

Yes, I started to look into Roll20 macro construction and templates after posting and there are limitations there for sure. Ideally I'd want to construct an attack box that auto-rolls damage (and crit damage) and keeps (Eldritch) Smite as a clickable option in the attack box, similar to how damage works when you're not auto-rolling it.
But I'm not sure that's possible, certainly haven't found a solution yet. :(
So I built a Roll20 macro for it instead, included here for those who might find it useful;
This is designed to be used as a token action and works with spell slots of 1st to 3rd level but should be easy to modify for a wider or narrower range. Similarly modifying the damage type and text box would make it useful for a Paladin's Smite.
Note that this doesn't track spell slot usage so you still have to manually check of slots when used for Smite.
I knew there was something I was missing, That took way too long to figure out. Thanks Oshcakes!
Is there a shortcut to enable/disable Whisper?
Similar to the Advantage / Disadvantage shortcut.
