While there isn't a way to make a magic item with different ranges. You can make a custom action and input your own range, weapon damage etc. and add it to your attacks.
This is true, but you cannot add your custom actions' to-hit modifiers. It is a magic item with an incorrect range, or a custom action with incorrect to-hit modifier. The custom weapon with incorrect range is easier to overlook and augment with additional text, because the auto-dice roller not having the to-hit modifier included is more of a schlep.
At the very least, is it possible to change the default display setting from 5/5 to 20/60 which is the most commonly used range? I mean 5/5 isn't even useful at all.
Saying bump here probably won’t do much - putting individual requests at the link given should have far more impact. While I agree that this should be possible I sort of understand why it isn’t- we use basically the same tools the developers do and they are limited to official items and so don’t need to change an item’s range. The one lace I did need to ( a composite Shortbow with the same range and damage as a long bow) I was able to work around fairly successfully.
Glad to see that this isn't just a me issue. I would love a fully customized magic item option to control ranges and to hits. I think this is a massive oversight, for sure.
Is there a way to change the range on weapons?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think it's possible. See here:

Thanks. This should be something that is easy to change. I appreciate your time...
Would it be possible for me to submit a feature request to this end?
Absolutely! You can submit feedback here:

Please add this..
Yeah this feels like an obvious feature to have.
We do bones, motherf***ker!
Wish this was a feature so we could edit private items to accommodate our groups.
Bump, agreed, we need this
bump, still in need

This should have been done.
Surprised this hasn't been updated in the system by now...weird...
Bump this request to make this happen!
I would love to have this feature as well, feels like a must for magic ranged weapons.
I was just killing myself trying to figure this out. Sucks it can’t be done. Please bump this request.

Bump. As a battle smith artificer the inability to make upgraded weapons that scale off my int is really messing me up.
