l have been thinking:the players will at some point need a place to store their money,so why not a bank. so here l am makeing this to come up with ideas on how this would work.
here is what l have so far(rough notes/ideas that you can help flesh out):
A inter dementional bank that that is ran by a guy who l can flesh out later.
the party, after getting a large sum of gold/express a need to store said money, are summoned to this bank and are greeted by the manager, who explains that they can open a account here, and they will get a pouch like a bag of holding, but only coins can go in/out & lt can store oo amounts of coin. the bag is simply a way for them to interact with their vault/personal money holding demiplane, rather then teleporting back and forth to the bank.
maybe a plot point can be that they try to take money out of their account, but it fails,so they have to find out what happend/fix it.
depending on the party, maybe the bank could be some sort of hell bank, ran by a devil/lord of hell?
I've seen fantasy setting manga use a temple/church run bank. They give you what is essentially a medieval bank card/ID with your balance on it and you can take it to any other location and withdraw from that amount.
Sometimes a merchant or adventurer guild might have a similar function.
Of course in all cases they are supported by the law and forgery is a crime.
Small things like changing the bag to a key or other mundane object might be nice, just to make it a little different from all the types of magic bags. What if when they went in to start their account they noticed a villain depositing a powerful item? Now the players have to break into their own bank unnoticed to take the item before the villain is ready to move it
Will say I love your idea, just seemed like you wanted some other options to think about.
Your idea is pretty neat. It is a modification of the Bag of Holding in my view. So if someone steals your bag … ?
I came up with an elaborate method of banking that used letters of credit which were certified by the local authorities. With your special ink and wax seal, you could write a draft against your letter of credit. That leads to all sorts of small problems and your method sidesteps all those.
Good luck with it.

The only thing you need to worry about is making your characters/players trust the institution.
It's one thing to have an official banking system where you can normally deposit and withdraw your funds in most major cities, it's a whole different thing to have them be contacted by some extraplanar guy who gives them a pouch and says "stick your money inside".
