I wanted to know how to smith a, for example, full set of Plate Armor. Would it be like 5gp per day and it takes you 50 days? What materials do you need? What tools do you need? Do you need to visit a major town and visit the blacksmith? If anybody has any background knowledge please guide me.
The PHB explains that a plate armor needs access to a forge, proficiency with the right tools, 750 GP material and 300 days of work.
The rules for crafting are very, very open to DM discretion. Basically the only hard requirements in the rules are "proficiency with artisan tools" , "spent (base cost / 2) GP on material" and "use (cost / 5) days (PHB) / (cost / 50) weeks (XGtE)".
In the Forgotten Realms a week has 10 days, so XGtE and PHB take an equal amount of time. In other settings, XGtE might be faster or slower.

Everything else is up to the DM. :-)
Thank You Naresea.
