It got a bit buried in this thread. I skimmed past it and scrolled back up and was wowed when I saw the video. Gonna have a play with it over the weekend :-)
I'd give it a bash if it wasn't for the fact that I already use the DDB importer by MrPrimate.
Not knocking your product at all, but wonder if you've thought about where yours stands along side it? How does it compare? How is it different? Why get yours over that?
Well.. the first thing is that.. since you're already on DnDBeyond .. you can start using in in 5 minutes just by installing the extension and going to your DDB campaign page :)
In AboveVTT you play with your DDB character sheet.. so every change is alway in sync.
If you own adventures on DDB you can immediately start playing on their maps (no need to export / import)... and of course you can immediately create a token and use stats for any monsters on DDB that you have access to, including any homebrew that you create on DDB.
There's no need to setup a server or to handle storage because the maps are just links that are distributed to players. The version that I will publish in some days will include a lot of free maps offered from various artists that you can just click to start to play on. Or you can quickly import a map from the internet just by copying the link.
Also.. it's free and there are no patreon-only features or something like that.
What you're doing right now is exporting data from DDB and importing it in another VTT, while aboveVTT use DnDBeyond data in real time.
Really, a $15 dollar dice roller when the VTT isn't even visible in the pipeline? Why?
Finish the table top so all of us web dms can stop paying for like 3 different subs each month.
Beyond was originally envisioned to be a supplement for real-life table-top play to only replace pen and paper character sheets. It was not intended to be a VTT to completely replace real-life table-top play.
While having a VTT would be nice, I much rather have Beyond focus on their core strengths first, which are their searchable database of monsters and items, compendium app, and most importantly their flagship character creation/character sheet. I want them to focus on making real life table top experience better first and foremost, even if I cannot play D&D in real life with my friends right now. The pandemic is a temporary thing and will come to pass. VTT can come later after they have more or less perfected their character sheets. While their characters sheets are great, there are still many things to improve upon and iron out.
I am not a huge fan of the dice roller since it lags my old computer a bit and I already got my own dice that I can roll in real life, but the dice roller is absolutely free. $15 is only for cosmetics, and while it is a little steep, cosmetics are totally optional and have no impact on actual play, so high cosmetic prices are not really an issue in my opinion. Developers have to eat and got bills to pay just like the rest of us. I rather have Beyond charge a high price on cosmetics than to charge a high price on books.
Same. The 3D stuff is cool I guess but when I use my tablet it's pretty much impossible to get it to work.
The skins are pretty EA level coin skimming but you're right it's just cosmetics. I remember when Skyrim got blistered for doing $5 horse armor and now we are fine with $15 math rocks.
VTT for beyond would be cool but as others have said I don't think it's in the cards. They are way behind on just implimenting stuff from the books.
We use Discord, Beyond and Owlbear rodeo today. Owlbear is amazing as it is so easy to use and fit my group well. But we might move over to Above when it's a bit more developed. Cyrantir is a MVP for shure!
As for Beyond pricing, I don't really see the problem. Both books and subs are affordable, and if I get some digital dice and sheet candy when I buy a book I was going to get anyway, it's just a bonus.
Honestly man I've just tried out your VTT and it's great. It's nice and simple and streamlined and does exactly what it needs to do. Obviously there are a few things missing but for something in such an early stage of development, it's already 100% functional and works with Beyond.
Previously I had been using Beyond, Roll20 and Beyond20 to connect them, which is fine, but you're having to use multiple different apps, and also I hate Roll20 lol
Of course I'm still adding features and fixing glitches :) I usually publish beta in the discord server.
Right now I just added drawing tools and the ability to import youtube videos as animated maps. It will come in the official chrome store extension in some days :)
I developed a free chrome extensions that put an entire VTT inside the DnDBeyond.com website. After you install it it will look as if DDB has its own VTT, fully integrated. please take a look at this demo .
The code is still "alpha" but you can already download it from the chrome store and test it. I'm looking for feedback on it.

Just stumbled on this, a very serious offer I am a full time Software tester am going to start using this for my own games so if I can help you improve this at all happy to do so
I'm new to roll20, there is a steep learning curve, Everyone's using different sheets and 'spam filled discord chat', of the 3 sheets I'm forced to use, None of them are the traditional Pen&Paper D&D 5E sheet, D&D Beyond has the WORST sheet of all three with tiny little buttons everywhere, Automatic pull down menus blocking the screen whenever you move your mouse over the top half of the page, and separate terminology making my roll20 Macros no-longer compatible, I cant even type something onto my equipment list without finding a little button, selecting a sub-menu of item type, searching through the menu... ITS BULLSH1T swings & roundabouts compared to pen&paper D&D, guys download 5E companion app perfectly made by someone who loves D&D before profits & monopolies. THE ONLY ROLL20 GAMES THAT RUN THIS SHEET ARE 1000+player OVER-CONTROLLING MONOPOLISTS
I basically only have DnDBeyond now for my players to quickly make a character. I get way more bang for my buck using Fantasy Grounds. Not only for online games, but use it at the table for in person games as well.
It's been incredibly easy to use importers to just bring in DnD Beyond content.
I think they put the VTT on pause because WotC is looking to make one.... That's my theory anyway.
Honestly the market is too far ahead at this point to make it work IMO. They are years behind at this point and would need to corner the market extremely fast to make it worth it

I just don't see it happening.
Above VTT the only VTT I need for DnD, prefer it so much more to foundry which I have bought but now only use for my non DnD systems.
Will this allow the DbD Digital Dice that I purchased from DnD Beyond to be visible in the VTT game map.? The digital dice are cool in DnD beyond screen, but the rest of the players in teh VTT (The Forge) game map for play can't see the cool effects.

Nope. But it sure is fun trying.

I got Foundry and never looked back.

As far as I know there is no way to show off your dndbeyond dice. Foundry I use dice so nice module for my dice but they aren't the dndbeyond dice.
