Hi all, I haven't bought anything on D&D Beyond yet, and I was strongly considering Tomb of Annihilation being my first purchase. I was wondering though, what kind of image resolutions are the images that come with the digital purchase? I like to print off my maps, and sometimes we play digital games so I was hoping the images are high enough resolution to a) print b) use as digital maps. Can anyone who has bought Tomb digitally give me an idea of what kind of resolutions the map images are?
They are quite fine. Chult is 6,563 x 8,925 px, Omu city is 2,800 x 3,800 px, the other maps are about 2,750 x 1,900 px.the illustration maps like Heart of Ubtao is 850 x 587 px. those are the smallest ones.
Not the most technical guy out there, what's involved in printing poster map? Print on 8.5x11 and tape together, or can I get poster printed at office supply place?
Depends on the shop you go too. Some UPS stores have wide format printers so you can print something up to 3 ft wide. To do that should keep the price down and quality up. Just have your players pitch in a little bit. Got to help us DM/GM so we dont break the bank on our games, though we usually already do with mini's and other things, haha. Good thing we love this hobby.
One thing my playing group is doing we are taking the map of Chult (Player's map) and having it printed on fabric. Resolution is great enough of the image that it wont loose detail when it gets over 4 ft tall. This way the party can get up from the table to look at the map and add in stuff with markers where they have been. I will post an image of it when it gets in if your interested seeing it, should have it within the week.
If it helps, the maps creator, Mike Schley, is offering free access to hi-res versions of his Chult map for players to get and print off in large sizes.

Those sizes sound great for what our group uses. Thanks!
This is a really cool idea!
