So basically I have a picture of a gnome who’s dual wielding axes. I wanna play him as how he looks which is a badass who’s probably got small guy syndrome, and is prone to bar fights. We were able to roll for stats and I rolled 14,6,11,11,15,17.
I really just don’t know what class to make him. I’ve thought some kind of Ranger, a Barbarian, maybe a Rogue? What class is going to help me get the most out of this concept?
If it helps this character is for SKT, and we have a rogue and wizard for the party currently whilst I’m undecided. Toying around with this concept and a dex or strength build samurai. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
Gnomes don't make the best fighters with their high intelligence. So let's make a a guy always underestimated. Since hand axes have the thrown property I would just pick a strength based class, and fighter can use more of the typical gnome traits than the brute force of the barbarian. Also a fighter would create a nice balance with the current party.
(Gnomes make also great artificers, which have tanky melee builds? But then you can use intelligence for your attack rolls. Might not fit the description perfectly, but is quite nice.)
Our party has a gnome beastmaster ranger who puts out quite a good amount of damage at level five with 2 attacks + the off hand bonus action + her beast doing its own damage + being able to take a reaction on her turn (UA Beastmaster rules). She uses finesse weapons (short sword + dagger). Probably has the highest overall damage output of the party. Can't do the burst damage of the rogue's sneak attack or the sorcerer's fireball, but she can put out reliable, solid damage each and every round. And she almost never misses.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.

Fighter, battle master.
