Also keep in mind. The same elf lineage can have different mechanics. The elf entry in a Monster Manual, can be completely different from the elf entry in a Players Handbook. But both are members of the same elf lineage. Its just the mechanics that differ.
Likewise, the Custom Lineage can also be of the elf lineage, but will have different mechanics, depending on the choice of feat.
If the elf entry in the MM is not a player race, none of this is relevant. Having multiple player races across different sources (other than settings) is not currently the case, so a statement that they’d be the same lineage is meaningless. You’re speculating about something that doesn’t exist.

It is relevant because Tashas introduces a new technical term called "lineage".
The same lineage includes both the PC mechanics and the NPC mechanics.
In the same way, Custom Lineage can also create the same lineage, with different mechanics.

Where does it say that a custom lineage can be the same lineage as another one? That’s the claim you make, but it’s not supported by anything. Calling your custom lineage “elf” doesn’t make it the same lineage as the PHB elf.

Tashas says:
"CUSTOM LINEAGE Instead of choosing one of the game's races for your character at 1st level, you can use the following traits to represent your character's lineage, giving you full control over how your character's origin shaped them."
The UA clarifies that a "race" ONLY refers to player mechanics. The race is the mechanical traits for a "lineage".
Thusly:
Instead of choosing one of the sets of traits of a lineage in the Players Handbook for your character at level 1, you can instead use the following traits for that same lineage.

You choose the lineage. The lineage must be humanoid. The choice of humanoid requires a subset for what kind of humanoid, such as human, elf, dwarf, or warforged. Meanwhile, if elf, the choice includes a choice of subset, specifying high, wood, drow, eladrin, or other such as shadar-kai, or a new custom subrace. The choice of lineage is yours.

What kind of humanoid, like [insert custom lineage name here]? Nothing says the subset doesn’t refer to the specific custom lineage and that you get to pick an existing one.

If you look thru the Monster Manual and other books, every humanoid specifies a subset, such as elf. There is no such thing as a generic humanoid.
To choose a humanoid includes specifying what kind of humanoid.
Meanwhile, total control over lineage, allows multiple tags, if desirable for the character concept, including other creature types in addition to humanoid.

Sure, like humanoid (Gvarayi’s-elf-that’s-not-a-regular-elf-so-why-should-it-count-as-elf). The races (now lineages) in the PHB are all humanoids. They all refer to themselves. The Dwarven lineage is humanoid (dwarf). The Dragonborn lineage is humanoid (dragonborn). A Custom Lineage is humanoid (custom).

In the case of the elf lineage, there is no such thing as a generic elf. One is either a high elf or not. So choosing the elf lineage requires choosing a subrace. You can be a high elf with custom lineage traits, or a wood or other elf, or make up your own subrace. But being elf requires one to specify what kind of elf.

Being a PHB elf does, sure. But we're taking about a custom lineage you call an elf, not about the PHB elf.

Recall, lineage and race are nonidentical.
Custom Lineage can choose an elf lineage without the elf race traits that are in the Players Handbook. If using Custom Lineage to gain "humanoid (elf)" one still needs to specify what kind of elf, such as "humanoid (wood elf)".
As an aside, the UA also helps clarify what the term "semiconscious" means. Like the elf "Trance", the reborn can also trance. Here:
"You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in an inactive, motionless state, during which you retain consciousness."
It parallels how the semiconscious trancer DOES remain conscious of the surrounding environment, such as guarding a camping site while other party members sleep. But the trancer must remain motionless, thus cant do any active activity, such as performing a ritual or cooking or whatever.
Also, it seems the immunity to sleep is no longer part of the Fey Ancestry resistance to charm, but more logically, is now part of the Trance trait.
The charm resistance and Trance is an elf race trait that the Players Handbook provides. By contrast, a Custom Lineage elf would normally lack both the resistance to charm and the ability to trance, unless the choice of some feat provided one or both of these traits.

You keep saying that, but there's nothing to back that up. At this point it's circular logic: you ask whether a custom lineage can count as a race/specific other lineage for the purpose of qualifying for a feat, and 7 pages later you now argue that lineages can simply choose to do this in the first place.
Beyond is not allowed to make up rules and generally must follow RAW to the best of their ability. Since Custom Lineage is now a race to be picked, we can assume Beyond has most likely asked Wizards on whether Custom Lineage can qualify for racial feats. With prerequisites turned on in the character builder, we know that Custom Lineage does NOT qualify for racial feats.
Edit: Forgot the "not."
Edit: Picture below. Wood Elf Magic would be at the very bottom if racial prerequisite was met.

Yes. I have bought everything besides Candlekeep Mysteries and a few dice.
Custom Lineage in the character builder also doesn't let you specify a subtype of humanoid, though that could in theory at least be not yet implemented functionality.

We now know, lineage and race are nonidentical, from the UA.
Both terms refer to the same "species". However the term "race" only refers to the mechanical traits, "the suite of features".
You can have the player lineage, being a member the same species, but without the player race features.
