Then who is coming to manage development? That was Adam's job - the video made it clear that Starr is Adam's replacement. If Starr was being brought in purely for creative I wouldn't have a problem with it. Perhaps they didn't make this clear. I'm not looking for original content from D&D Beyond. I'm looking for a fully functional character and hopefully someday campaign manager and Starr is clearly not qualified to lead that effort.
If he is only going to be heading up content and creative then he has failed at his first job - which is handling the transition. So I stand by my original statement that I am deeply concerned about the direction of the company. The transition has been a complete total cluster ****.

"There's not going to be one person coming in to replace Adam, there's going to be a Joe stepping in to really take control of content. There are going to be other people that you're going to learn more about in the coming weeks who are working with Product and Vision. And, of course you know, everyone's met Dave Hartless before, who's now the VP of engineering here at Fandom for tabletop."
So the video explicitly states that Joe Starr is not Adam's replacement - at least not in general. Joe will take on Adam's role in content, but other things Adam did will be handled by others with relevant experience and ability.

This. Adam has been instrumental in collaboratively developing roadmap priorities, been an amazing partner and contributor but he hasn't managed development directly for over 2 years.
Noted - makes me feel a little better. But doesn't Fandom understand that the product they are selling at D&D Beyond is not the creative content? The product they are selling is the character manager. This should have been their first priority. I personally don't give a rat's ass who is heading up their creative content. Just give me what I'm paying for and give me good reasons to keep paying for it.
But none of the devs have announced they are leaving publically nor have any features been cut. I don't think what you are paying for has been affected at all.

Development and Engineering are not public facing positions. Content and Community are. It makes sense to introduce the people users of DDB will be interacting with more.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
The Fandom website has several listings for new dev positions. I think they're adding more developers, rather than replacing all the departing content creators. That's probably why you're not seeing more public faces introduced -- there might not be as many. Do you currently know the names of every developer on the team? You probably won't know the names of the new ones either.
Seriously, can we stop panicking now? DDB isn't going anywhere. They're focusing more on their services than on content. Given that the services -- such as the character creator -- are what you pay for, that should make you ecstatic.
Does this mean that there is no longer any public visibility of what they are working on?
I always felt that was more a placating device more than anything. In the early days transparency was much more expected as they had not built the base they have now.
I just hope that they have at least some lists of what they are going to work on. 3rd party developers are starting to make more progress on the VTT they talked about having.
Hi! I'm Joe- happy to try and answer some of your questions.
To clarify a few that you already have: I was tapped to lead content for D&D Beyond, and with Todd and James' departures, means I'm currently working on building a new creative team to help me in those efforts! I am 100000000% not taking over Adam's role. Adam has spent the last few years building a really amazing team of people here, with those folks stepping into various leadership positions on the team.
The company isn't going anywhere- the same folks that have been busting their butts to make DDB great for you continue to bust butts!
Dang... I know everyone has to have a First Post... but few are going to have that far-reaching consequences. Welcome to the front side of the Forums, Joe!
Great questions Davyd! As for my pizza topping, it can never be just one (no Highlander here)... but I'll take BBQ and Anchovies with Jalapeno on mine!
Mostly I want to know when we'll start seeing some new articles so we can devour more content. Or video... or rap battle or whatever have ya...
If you could do a D&D Beyond interview with any fictional character from D&D's lore, who would it be and why is Tasha?
In all seriousness, hail and well met!
VERY SERIOUS.
Usually, I'd say Italian sausage, but in my old age I'm really starting to appreciate roasted red pepper.
Although I currently play an assassin, I really adore Sorcerors. There's something very 'chosen one' feeling about a character with these abilities in their blood. When I was a kid I read The Dark Is Rising Sequence over and over again and just loved Will Stanton and the idea of discovering this innate power in you. Plus when you add the wild magic table to that, just really fun to play.
I do really love the rolling system for Edge of the Empire- makes everything very cinematic.
Visually I lean Flumpf but I'm also a sucker for a rhyme, so this is a challenging question. Flumpf? Flumpf. This will wake me up tonight.
OOH. I mean Tasha is the end-all, but Kitiara uth Matar would be such a good smack-talking session- like those Quincy Jones interviews where he just laid out everyone's secrets.

Surely you mean, "...and why is it Acererak?" I mean the first question alone practically writes itself, "Tell us, what was it really like working for Gary Gygax?"
OOH. I mean Tasha is the end-all, but Kitiara uth Matar would be such a good smack-talking session- like those Quincy Jones interviews where he just laid out everyone's secrets.
Did you just make a Dragonlance reference?! Mad respect dude. I had no idea!
1. What is the major goal for the development team for the next year?
2. Are you going to start your own game to stream?
What I CAN say for the dev team is that you're going to start meeting more and more of them in the Dev Update so they can start speaking to what's coming and give you a lot of context that me, a professional clown, can not hope to quantify. I know that 'stay tuned' is sort of a non-answer, but they're going to be able to start framing that vision for you on Thursdays better than I ever could.
As for a new campaign to stream, I've definitely got some plans in the books. The non-answers aren't me trying to be being coy, I swear- building a really cool slate of programming for y'all is my number one job and I want to make sure that everything we do, whether it's a streamed game or a rules primer, feels special.

On the video side, we're on the same publishing cadence as usual- it was important to me that continuity be preserved as we work through this transition. New articles are forthcoming as well, as soon as I catch my breath!

Maybe throw out an occasional thread after seeing the response to the articles they have been releasing?

Hoping for a renewed focus on tooling / services as opposed to content.
I would take a slick, working platform that adds value to my games over a crappy one with some articles and video content any day.
They have ditched the Trello board that they were using for tracking features too!
Two hours ago, pbackman effectively archived their trello board.
Did it used to be at https://www.dndbeyond.com/linkout?remoteUrl=https%3a%2f%2ftrello.com%2fb%2fvIKxuEs8%2fdd-beyond-upcoming-features

And with things that already bring stuff over from DnD Beyond into other VTT already its not looking good unless they take big moves soon.
