Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (combination of Discord for audio/downtime activities, Roll20 for battlemap/visualization, and D&D Beyond for character generation Experience: Looking for moderate to experienced players. Since we're starting at higher levels I don't think newbies will work but if you have a few games under your belt you should be good. Location/Timezone: The interwebs with games held 8-11pm Eastern on Tuesdays. I'm EST for offline interactions. Schedule: 8-11pm Eastern on Tuesdays with offline text based play happening on Discord between sessions (this part is much more optional) Roles sought: Looking for 1-3 players (I already have 3 confirmed but the module and my setup is geared more towards 6 players) Game style: More casual and fun with an emphasis on combat and roleplaying. Not very much exploration due to the nature of online play and the way I have things setup in Roll20. It's an 18+ kind of game but not very dark. If I had to compare the desired atmosphere to a movie we're talking something similar to Deadpool or maybe some of the action movies of the 80/90's (True Lies, Die Hard, etc). There will violence, bad language, drinking, and probably some bad puns. Not as dark and serious as The Dark Knight but probably a bit more bloody than your average MCU title.
Additional Game Details:
I am going to run a customized campaign that threads together the adventures Storm Lord's Wrath, Sleeping Dragon's Wake and Divine Contention. It's a hub and spoke style adventure based around the town of Leilon, in the Forgotten Realms. For those not familiar with those modules they carry on from Dragon of Icespire Peak as the party is contracted by Lord Neverember to protect his project to revive the long abandoned roadside town of Leilon. The party will be challenged by multiple foes that see to tear down the town and subjugate the Sword Coast North.
I already have three folks lined up to play and I'd like to get somewhere between 1 to 3 more. I've added a lot of custom content including new NPC's, side quests, downtime activities, etc that I think should boost the roleplaying aspect of this module.
Players will start at level 7 and should progress through level 12 by the time we're done. Characters will start with 750gp and 1 uncommon item (to be negotiated with the DM). I have a campaign setup in D&D Beyond with shared access to a good number of the main books (not all, but most) so you should be able to build whatever character you want there. I like then using the Beyond 20 Chrome extension to cast rolls directly into Roll20.
Character origin/type is very flexible. However your role will be to protect and save a town so I require that your character have some desire to do so, and the desire to work as part of a team of diverse characters.
If you are interested in maybe participating, shoot me a DM.
As a preview, here is what I ask my players to fill out to introduce their character. You don't need to do this to apply but it gives you an idea where we're going.
1. Full name and preferred nickname
2. Race
3. General physical description
4. Personality/quirks/habits
5. History that you would give out to others.
6. If you don't have an image, or even if you do, what actor or actress would you suggest play your character if this becomes so radically successful that it's optioned for a movie (or maybe just a Netfilx series)?
Example: 1. Name: Emmalou
2. Race: Human
3. Emmalou is a scarred and tattooed human woman. She keeps the sides of her head shaved and has various symbols tattooed onto her body including a dove near her eye and prayers to various gods around her neck, back and arms. Her skin is pale and what hair she has is short and rumpled. Her eyes have a thousand-yard stare and she normal wears a well maintained but also worn set of half plate cobbled together from various pieces that don't seem to have the same style. It's hard to say her age for sure but she looks in her late 20's to early 30's.
4. Emmalou is sarcastic and crass. Her attitude keeps people at a distance but she respects those that can fight and has a soft spot for little children and other innocents. She is strongly superstitious and often talks about different omens, protecting wards, sayings of prophecy. She caries around many different trinkets and religious symbols from bits of jewelry to crystals to a rabbit's foot. She is devout but will pray to different gods depending on the situation; Tymora when gambling, Tempus on the way to battle, Umberlee when at sea, etc.
5. “My history? I’ve seen a lot over the years. I grew up in Greenest down south of the Gate and Elturel. I was there when the Cult of the Dragon sacked it. My folks made it to the keep but my little brother was caught out in the open by a gaggle of kobolds and cut down. When the battle was over, I left, and made my way north to the Gate and then to Waterdeep, looking to kill cultists. Lord Neverember called folks to his banner and I answered. I fought at the Battle of Waterdeep, Daggerford, and then at the Well of the Dragons. When it was over, I followed Lord Neverember back to Neverwinter as part of his guard. I was sent down here after the recent attack to help bolster Leilon’s defenses.”
Sorry that's something I didn't think to mention. I'm going with either standard array or point buy for character generation.
For races and classes we're sticking with what's in the published materials. I'm not so picky about FR specific races but would rather not dive into homebrew races or classes.
So if you want to be a warforged or a Harry Elefante the loxodon we can make that work. The biggest issue would be fitting into a normal town so some of the more evil (or perceived evil races) might have some issues.

Sent PM, but for character creation, since it's not listed. Is point buy okay?

Ok folks that was fast. I've got the 3 players I was looking for. Thanks and I may open this up again another time.
