Available Roll20 Sourcebooks: Curse of Strahd, Player Handbook, Tasha's, Xanathar's, Volo's, Monster Manual, and I have the actual DMG book so I didn't bother purchasing it again, but I will likely to get it down the road anyway.
Payment: $12 (USD) per session per player paid through ***** or PayPal.
D&D Beyond disclaimer: This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $12 (USD) per player per session to participate. D&D Beyond is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Hello there, I'm Ryan a DM from Texas, USA. I have been playing D&D for the last 17 or so years and have over 6 years experience as a DM, started on 3.5E then made the switch to 5E back in 2019. Started DMing here on Roll20 when COVID made its appearance early 2020. Come enjoy and explore the Cursed Realm of Strahd. This is a great campaign for new or seasoned players as both are welcome. This is going to be a gothic horror styled campaign and descriptions can be graphic. Not recommended for anyone who can't stand the mention of blood or graphic violence in games. Session 0 and the first session will be free so players can get a feel for the game. Our campaign will start with players being at Level 1 and each player gets to choose 1 of 5 factions from the Adventurers League if they wish to be a part of one of the following: (Harpers, Order of the Gauntlet, Emerald Enclave, Lord's Alliance, or Zhentarim) and the campaign starting point is to be Daggerford off the Sword Coast. The adventurers were hired to take part in a quest to track and hunt a pack of Werewolves on behalf of the League. We will be using XP awards for combat, RP, creativity, etc. for levels, up to level 10 which will be the ending point for completion of this campaign. This means the campaign will go on for over 6 months. You can certainly expect fun and plenty of RP with a good mix of combat. Music will be played during sessions for ambience. As to be expected, we will follow the Rules as Written in the Wizards of the Coast books. As I am human it is possible to make mistakes or mix up info and if I do, please let me know so we can make proper adjustments to keep the game fun and your DM honest as I know many things related to the game but may not know everything off the top of my head. However, when things get into those rare gray areas, I will have the final say after reviewing appropriate info. I have no problem with Rule of Cool as long as it makes sense.
We will be using Discord for the voice chat.
We will be using Roll20 for character creation(D&D Beyond is acceptable only if all rolls are made in Roll20) and gameplay.
🎲The 5 Faction Options:
About the Harpers- is a network of spellcasters and spies who advocate equality and who covertly oppose the abuse of power. The organization's longevity is largely due to its decentralized, grassroots, secretive nature, and the autonomy of its members. The Harpers have small cells and lone operatives throughout the Forgotten Realms. They share information with one another from time to time asneeds warrant. The Harpers' ideology is noble, and its members pride themselves on their ingenuity and incorruptibility.
About the Order of the Gauntlet- Founded by paladins and clerics of Helm, Torm, and Tyr, the order is a
dedicated group of like-minded individuals driven by religious zeal or a finely honed sense of justice and honor. The order is ready to lash out the moment evil acts, and not a moment before. The order strikes hard and fast, without waiting for the blessings of temples or the permission of rulers. The order believes that evil must be smashed, or it will swiftly overcome all.
About the Emerald Enclave- This widespread group of wilderness survivalists-preserves the natural order while rooting out unnatural threats. Druids, rangers, and barbarians make up most of its membership. Branches of the organization can be found wherever untamed wilderriess exists.
Members of the Emerald Enclave·know how to survive, and more important, they want to help others do the same. They aren't opposed to civilization or progress, but they strive to prevent civilization and the wilderness from destroying one another.
About the Lord's Alliance- The Lords' Alliance is a coalition of political powers concerned with their mutual security and prosperity. Heading the coalition are rulers in the North and along the Sword Coast. Although alliance members have pledged to join forces against common threats, every lord in it places the fate and fortune of his or her settlement above all others. Agents of the alliance are chosen primarily for their loyalty, and are trained in observation, stealth, innuendo, and combat. Backed by the wealthy, they carry well-made equipment (often disguised to appear common). Alliance operatives are often glory hounds.
About the Zhentarim- The Zhentarim is an unscrupulous shadow network that seeks to expand its influence throughout the Forgotten Realms. The public face of the Black Network appears relatively benign. It offers the best and cheapest goods and services, both legal and illicit, hoping to undercut its competitors. Members of the Zhentarim think of themselves as members of an extended family and rely on it for resources and security. At the same time, members are granted the autonomy to increase their own wealth and influence. As a whole, the Zhentarim promises "the best for the best," although in truth the organization is more interested in spreading its own propaganda and influence than investing in the improvement of its members.
🎲Pay to Play Policy:
Sessions are $12 per player each session paid via ***** or PayPal. Payment must be received prior to start of each session. The sessions will run approximately three hours, with a quick break somewhere around half way through the session. The hour before the game, I will be online in Discord & Roll20 to help with things like character creation, background, or any questions about D&D in general. I like to keep games at a limit of no more than 6 players with 4 being the minimum required to play so dedicated players will be looked for.
D&D Beyond disclaimer: This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $12 (USD) per player per session to participate. D&D Beyond is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
🎲Why Pay to Play:
As a current DM and player I know the frustrations that come with games ending because players randomly quit sessions unexpectedly over schedule conflicts, tempers, obligations, etc… When players commit to a paid game it is more likely to prevent those types of situations from happening. I will be interviewing each player personally so as to prevent such situations and make sure all players are compatible in terms of play style. I ensure that there will be a good mix of balanced encounters throughout the game. Some may be easy, moderate, and some will challenge all players leaving the feeling of thank the gods we survived. I believe in making sessions as exciting as possible for everyone playing.
Paying for your sessions ensures that you have a on time DM with content at the ready. This gets you a dedicated DM that will help you will character creation, background, and general game related info as well as access to high cost sourcebooks free of charge. This also assists the DM with being able to afford even more content that you as a player will either see or gain access to while being part of the game.
🎲Code of Conduct:
As we are playing published official content, it is possible to look things up to a certain extent. I do ask any players that do join be respectful to each other and do all they can to not Metagame as it ruins the game for others. Should you join, do it for the trill of the gothic horror styled campaign, the excitement of potential combat, or to enjoy the comradery that is built with your fellow teammates. Be mindful of the fact that you have a team with you and do your best not to talk over others or be the center of focus (remember it’s a group effort, respect each other).
