this will be a very realistic campaign with daily ration costs and punishments for stupid decisions. not to say your character can't kill for fun but don't get shocked when guards start hunting and if you are really unlucky the party might be paid to catch you.
I want half a page at the minimum for backstories they should contain family, rival enemies, defining moments to your character, and mentors who guided them or inspired them.
if you play a joke character just play it well, if you play an evil character play it well, and if you play a cleric and the rouge stabs three innocent people in front of you know that I feel your pain.
new players are welcome just know we will be using roll20 as the map and will be rolling for stats and hp.
things I want from you:
your discord friend code.
how long you have played dnd.
pronouns and planned character ideas.
some spells are banned:
silvery barbs (it's just annoying to me and watching a 20-ac pally with a bard spam casting this on it showed me how destructive it is to a party late game).
good berry (lessons on the need for rationing and is a boring spell imo).
Prologue:
the starting town is called Gray's tint due to the mostly cloudy sky that the local townspeople blame on a nearby town that lives next to the shore and creates boats. Gray's tint is a pacifist town that is mostly into growing crops and has a medium wall built around the town to keep "non-pacifists" out. Usually, the town is highly anti-social toward adventures and other towns but recently they have hired from their own population via luck of the draw and by posting posters in neighboring woods and towns looking for young people to deal with a goblin encampment that has been disrupting a trade route and starving the town of resources.
Discord: James Corinth#0636 Experience: 8+ years (Player) / 5 months (DM) Pronouns: He/Him Character Ideas: When I plan a character, I put everything into them. If I'm to live someone else's life for a few months or maybe even a year, they have to be the most realistic you can make them. That said, I have religious paladins devoted to the cloth since birth. Rogues who have lost their souls to greed and their families to debt collectors. Clerics who have turned sour from the praise of others. And Fighters who have fought for both sides, and lost to all. As a writer in real life, I make sure my characters are the best I can make them. With that said, depending on group dynamic, social climate (in-game), and geo-political situations, my character will be defined by those, rather then creating one that seems like a fish out of water and not a fit, systematically, for the campaign.
Character ideas: I have a bunch of ideas floating in my head that will definitely be determined by the set up. The main ones I got are a young wizard(divination) or a cleric(light) that are under pressure since they've been put into an important role. A bard(whispers)/rouge(assassin) that escaped imprisonment from a ransom meant to be payed off by his rich mother. A blood hunter who vows to end all undead. I got tons more to fit any role you need.
character ideas: I have a cowboy looking to explore the world and gaining experience in his trade, or a wizard looking for redemption and his loved once, or maybe a bloodhunter out to find his next monster to kill for some gold. I will admit to not being the best at voices but will always play my character to their backgrounds and personalities.
Discord: YakkySnow#3339 Experience: 3+ years (Player) / 1 year (DM) Pronouns: He/Him Character Idea: Gojo Satoru, A skilled anbu black op type sorcerer(shadow)/ monk(shadow) who is deadly in close quarters. his skill set allowed him to infiltrate enemy lines and extract intel my any means necessary. The power that flows thru his body protects and hides him from his enemies.
Character ideas:I have been wanting to play a wizard for the longest time but haven't been in any campaigns as a player. The idea I had is as follows. At a young age Risong helped his family on the fields and to tend to animals along with his mother father grandpa younger brother and older sister, but every 5 weeks the raiders would take 2/3 of the community's funds and crops as a "protection fee". One day when the raiders came to collect, the family couldn't pay because the daughter was sick, and the family needed to pay for medication. In return the raiders kicked the family from thier home, with threats to slaughter them if they returned. After fleeing the surrounding territory the family settled in a new town named Renad. The new town was the family's home for many years until risong while getting water from the river, triped on stone and tumbled down hill until he crashed into a Boulder, knocked unconscious for 7 hours. When he awakened, he found an achient tome beneath the vegetation, teaching the basics of magic. For 3 years untill the age of 17, Risong practiced magic day and night. Although Risong has no aptitude or special talent in the art of magic, through constant study and many sleepless nights, Risong finally cast his first spell. On his 18th birthday Risong departed his home. After his final farewells to his family and friends he departed, his destination, the capital of his territory. After 5 months of travel by foot Risong arrived at the capital. After finding a job as a librarian, he read at night and spent his free time fi ding a master to learn from. Although he could find no teacher who would be willing to teach someone with as little talent as himself, Risong continued to study witchcraft untill his 19th birthday, when he left the capital to his home town, only to find it destroyed. The local guard outpost abandoned and no living soul to be found. Distraught at the thought that his family may be hurt or worse, he embarked on a journey to find them. After many years Risong still couldn't find his lost family. Through journeying trying to find leads on the whereabouts of his lost family, Risong encountered a poster in the woods of a town (starting town) with a goblin problem. Risong decided to volunteer his services.

hello! If you’re still looking I’d be happy to talk! I’m definitely very interested in the concept and love the risk.

I Have played D&D about 7 years as both a player and dm.
She/her, in terms of character ideas.. I typically play the support but I’m down for pretty much anything if it’s needed. I was looking into a cleric of sorts, the race is something I’m on the fence about depending on what you allow.
If there are still spots open for this campaign i'd be very intrested and this time slot works well for me so i'd be able to commit week to week.
your discord friend code: BruhngeonMaster#4251
how long you have played dnd: About 1 year some DM some as PC
pronouns and planned character ideas: He/Him for my personal pronouns, charachter TBD. I think a barbarian that was hired from the local's town population could be a fun concept here. They could have a contentious relationship with their neighbors given their proclivity to rage but do their best to keep that rage under control. Perhaps they have a set of antagonists in the town that make a habit of trying to rally but my PC and get him in trouble. Given their proclivity towards rage, the pc is both excited to leave the town and embrass one supressed aspect of their charachter but also a bit nervous as they have been singled out for their rage.
