I'm looking to get a group together of like minded players and a dm, for a long term homebrew campaign. I want players that are interested in roleplay and character development that make games memorable. I'm looking for this to be organized on discord and played on roll20. I'm hoping to have this run on the weekends, time depending on what everyone is available for.
What am I looking for: -Players who initiate things. Pull npcs or players aside to speak with them, because something they said intrigued you. You interact with other players, not only as a large group, but also to establish personal connections between your character and the others you travel with. Don't just wait for the DM to bounce you around from combat to combat. I enjoy combat as much as the next but it is so much better when supported with story.
-Perspective is everything. Meta-gaming is not fun for others. If two party members went off and discussed a plan to sneak off at night, you don't 'conveniently' insist your character wants to stay up and keep an eye out all night. You can separate what you know OOC and what you know IC.
-You develop a solid base for your character background and are able to add and develop as the story does.
-You're not an attention hog. You have a sense of timing and when to let other players have the spotlight for a change.
If you're a player that is interested in the immersion of d&d then fill this out: Name & Age: Experience: Character Concept; (Doesn't need to be a fully ready character, can just be an idea you have)
If you're a dm and this seems like something you would love to help bring to life, get in touch with me and we'll chat.
Name & Age: Brandon Experience: None :) but I would love to play Character Concept; (Doesn't need to be a fully ready character, can just be an idea you have) - I was thinking about playing a human rogue that somewhat of a coward and likes to steal things every once in a while
Name: I have to get more comfortable with people before I say my real name, you may call me Seph and I am 18.
Experience: 4 brief legit campaigns in the past. Three were on Roll20, and one was in person. I have also done two more casual rp campaigns with close friends.
Character concept: I have one character of mine who I have recently remastered and I am dying to use. Rhysand Duvainor, a High Elf (he is of mixed race; his father was a Moon Elf and his mother was a Sun Elf) Blood Hunter who lost his parents at a young age due to a griffin attack and he was raised and mentored by a half orc blood hunter. He has seen some stuff throughout his travels and he has a habit of drowning his sorrows in drink. He doesn't regret choosing his profession because he wants to do his best to make sure less people have to suffer loss like he has. It takes a monster to slay monsters and he isn't afraid to sacrifice more of his humanity if it means getting better in his profession. I would love to go into more detail but I don't want to leave you staring at a wall of text XD. But if you wish to read all of it, here it is.
Rhysand Duvainor is the result of a union between a Sun Elf named Elenril fleeing her dull life among the nobility and a traveling Moon Elf bard named Orodon. He lived a comfortable and happy childhood full of wanderlust as his parents traveled from place to place performing, his mother would dance while his father sang and played the lute. Despite being the son of two performers, Rhysand had creativity in a different manner, he had a passion for drawing and writing. He would help his father write his lyrics and assist his mother with coming up with costume concepts. It was at the age of twelve when his bubble of innocence was permanently popped, while on the road a griffin attacked their caravan. His parents fought valiantly to protect their son and they died protecting him. The beast too wounded from the fight, spared him and took off. Rhysand was left traumatized from witnessing the event and he never left their bodies for hours, he even did his best to defend their corpses from scavenging animals. In fact when he was found by Zunir a half-orc bloodhunter, he was trying to swing a sword at a pair of coyotes who had gotten too close. Zunir managed to drive the beasts off before he told the boy that he was here there to offer him a choice. Either Rhysand could go to an orphanage or he could come with him and get revenge for his family. What Rhysand did not know till years later was that the true reason why Zunir had taken him in was because he that griffin had been his contract to kill and rather slay the beast immediately the half orc had wasted the day and night away in drink and the company of women. The bloodhunter had felt a need to at least make a right out of his wrongs. In the weeks that followed, Zunir taught Rhysand the basics of sword fighting, archery, and tracking. His skills were put to the test when he assisted his new mentor in tracking down and killing the very beast that had killed his parents. In the aftermath Zunir gave him another choice he could still go into an orphanage and live a mundane life or he could continue his training under him to become a blood hunter and do his best to prevent others from losing family to monsters like he had.
Rhysand chose the latter and as the years went by the happy boy who had loved art grew into a young man skilled with sword and eager for the hunt. Zunir became not only a mentor but also a foster father to him and two developed a strong bond. Through his blood, sweat, and tears Rhysand survived his rigorous and grueling training to become a true blood hunter. Once he was twenty-one , Zunir helped him forge his own sword and led him through the blood ritual to empower the blade with the elf's own vitality. Rhysand named the blade Lókë which is Elvish for snake or dragon. The sword cuts as swiftly as the former and strikes as hard as the latter. Before sending him off to live his life Zunir entrusted him with a few things besides the sword: a ring he had found on the body of Orodon, a simple bracelet of glass beads he had gotten from the body of Elenril, and the half orc's own flask. This way the elf would always have the three of the most influential people of his life with him. With a tearful goodbye, the two went their separate ways and Rhysand would not see his mentor again until some years later when he would share the stories of his travels to Zunir during the last night of the orcs life. Since then the High Elf has traveled from place to place taking on beast and on more than a few occasions man for coin and whenever his payment is received he always gives a bit of it to an oprhanage or to a child he sees in need.
Name & Age: Don't like sharing my name with people i barely know, you can call me Monc im 18 Experience: I don't have a lot of experience only one campaign and playing one right now. I played both on Roll20, and even I'm some what new to DnD I have a lot of knowledge on the game Character Concept; (Doesn't need to be a fully ready character, can just be an idea you have) I have one good character in mind he's a Human Ranger Named Henry Henry Thorsen. He's was raised on the streets and learned how to care for him self by self teaching him self skills of a Ranger. He's a really social person, being able to make friends with many in a instante, all ways looking for the best in people. He might seam friendly and a little distracted but he can be one of the most clever and cunning people when the situation calls for it.
Name & Age: Like a few people on here, I'm not fully comfortable sharing my real name until I get used to people, but for now call me Moon. I'm 26
Experience: I don't have too much in terms of actual experience. Just a few fragments of a campaign that fell apart due to work and real life. I would love to play a full campaign to completion.
Character Concept; Her name is Olivine Briarwood. She is a young human female. She comes from a family of alumni wizards of a prestigious academy.
Unlike her family, she isn't really cut out to be a wizard. Instead of being enrolled as a magical student of the academy, she works in the library and works her way up to becoming the assistant librarian.
One morning, she awakens to find her arms and other parts covered in Dragon-like scales. This causes her to freak out, unleashing a spell that sets her room on fire. Shortly after the fire, she is called to the headmaster's office it is there she finds out that somewhere in her bloodline, she has an ancestor of draconic bloodline. Based on the color of the scales on her arms, it appeared to have been a brass dragon.
The Headmaster gives Olivine a chance to learn to control her magical abilities which she happily accepts but, there is a second part. Once the Headmaster deems her control over her magic to be sufficient, she must pack up her things and leave. If it were discovered that anyone of such beastly origins were to be discovered at the academy, their reputation would be ruined.
After a week of training, Olivine is sent off with a beautifully carved wooden staff, bearing a green orb. This was the headmaster's final gift before she was kicked out of her home for the second time. The last thing he said to her was in draconic. They were: "Find your purpose in adventure, wyrmling."
A quick note first; I'm from uk and as I tend to sleep at nights (not an owl, sorry!) I won’t be able to make any time between 3pm to 3am CST
Name & Age: Miyu, 23
Experience: I'm pretty new to d&d, like never played a campaign 'new'. Also never used roll20 if that's ok? More than happy to learn though!
Character Concept: A Half-elf female, heal/support druid;
Her human mother died soon after her high elf father left, leaving her to be raised by her aunt and uncle on mothers’ side. The small settlement where she grew up in is far removed from any important trading route so the only travellers she's ever seen were halfling travelling troops that have lost their way and she has never even seen any other elf. Her new family despised elves, blaming her father for her mothers’ death. With her inheriting the eyes flecked with gold and, although barely, pointed ears, their haltered of elves also applies to her and grows stronger as the half-elf grew.
Despite their obvious haltered they still did their best to bring her up and she could never bring herself to hate them. She left her home not to cause any more heartache to them and made up her mind to never return. Now she aims to help and heal people in exchange for food and shelter.
Only memory of her father she has is the little teachings about his druid life and the totem he left her. Maybe she will cross paths with him on her travels. Would she even recognise him?
Europe based, busy most weekends, mostly free on week-days.
Experience : ~100h on 3.5, about 30 on 5e (Roll20), playing Cthulhu and a few other roleplaying games.
Character :
A high-elf dragon-slayer (ranger) : despite being a high elf his family was not from the smartest (what is a high-elf to other high-elfs). So to gain ranks his grand mother starting taking care of bigger and bigger fights training herself and the rest of the clan to be able to fight dragons and protect and serve the city. After a century, the family prouved to be brave hunters and was allowed to sit at the Council even tho not on top of the hierachie.
Now is time for our hero to see the world and contribute to the family's art to keep up with the dragon's. He finished his training with the family and needs to go out and learn by himself.
Tell me what you think, I am willing to bend the background to the campaign or to create a better suitting character ;-)
PS: I will be to play a caster either but it seems like it is allready taken.
I also have ideas for a close/tank oriented Tempest Domain Cleric who is here to remember everyone to pray and sacrifice to the gods for being good and protectif.
Experience: I have started playing in 2012 and been off and on campaigns ever since. I have a pretty good grasp on the rules and styles of DnD. I also have played in a lot of roleplay based campaigns. I really enjoy being engaged with the story and look forward to that the most in any campaign.
Character Concept: My concept for a character is an Air Genasi name Whirl Crost. He was left on the doorsteps at a home of a poor family in a run-down fishing village. His life was simple but good until at the age of 12 a huge raid came down to the village. The raiders murdered and killed everyone including Whirl parents in front of him. He was knocked out by fallen rubble. He woke up in the back of a cart of halfling monk who took him to their chapel. Although not supporting the faith Whirl was taught in the art of Monks. He then wanted to go out for revenge for the raiders who took his home away from him. The monks disagreed with his way of thinking and tried to force him to change his way of thinking. So he fled the chapel stealing gold and weapons in search or the raiders. He becomes a wanderer after that and has avoided chapels and other monks. Worried that those who took him in would find him once more. He also tends to steal things more for interest than actually harm and carry items to remind him of his past. (Again this is just a basic idea and will tune up quite a bit.)
What sort of time and time-zone will this game be in?
I go by EST, but since I plan on this being on the weekend, I am available for any times then.
Thank you everyone for all the interest so far. I'm gonna be contacting people soon. Also if there are any DMS who are interested in this endeavor, please don't be afraid to hit me up.
Character Concept: I have a few character ideas waiting in the sidelines but I would quite like to play an aarakocra arcane archer. He's a very spiritual guy. Likes his proverbs. He comes from a very peaceful religion where killing should only be done out of neccessity and he had a kind of guardian role.
Experience: None, but I am a fast learner and willing and wanting to change that none to a lot.
Character Concept: I have several, but currently my most solid ideas are an older aasaimar ranger, likely in his sixties or seventies, a grandfather figure with lycanthropy. An elven druid who is physically disabled, having no movement or feeling in her right leg due to a previous injury that is supported by a crude but functional brace, lawful good in intention and keen to aid others. A transgender lesbian wizard/cleric who is more than likely the doctor you never want to deal with, a true neutral in intention with a fiery personality. And finally an agender goliath looking to prove themselves in the world and grow stronger, chaotic good in intention, by far the youngest character I would play at nineteen years of age, full of youthful enthusiasm. With all characters I'm more than happy to alter or change their backgrounds to fit the setting they're in and add to it as they develop.
Experience: Not one tiny bit. I've read a bit, but nothing that would compare to actually playing the game, so I'm eager to learn.
Character Concepts: I have a few characters bouncing around in my head, to be honest. The ones I'm currently most interested in trying out though are:
1: An elf warlock [or necromancer if the dm would be okay with that] who's very quiet and prefers the company of books to others, but if it can further his goal of gaining a bit of forbidden knowledge, he'll happily join a group of adventurers. True Neutral.
2: A human paladin with a love for cooking and justice who would honestly be in it just to help people. If he thinks one group stands a better chance of helping folk than he would on his own, he would be more than eager to join them. Lawful Good, obviously.
3: A scrappy dwarf barbarian mercenary. He loves a good fight and like a good stereotypical dwarf has a fondness for alcohol. Chaotic Neutral.
I'm American, so our times may a bit off, but even if it's a UK campaign, I'll probably have time most days other than weekends.
Character concepts: A lot of ideas but I have 3 I can always bring to the table, 1. Drax, a human monk. 2. Dart, a human warlock. 3. Xavier, a human cleric.
I am EST and able to play on roll20 after a refresher and have discord, video and audio. If you wish to see these characters better or more filled I'll be happy to PM their sheets with their basic backgrounds.
Experience: almost 20 years of playing since AD&D (including DMing through 3.5 and 5)
Character concepts: Grath Goatfoot an infernal tiefling (SCAG). Abandoned as a babe like many tieflings, Grath Goatfoot was raised by a tribe of northern barbarians. They did not shun him for his form but praised it. Many of Grath’s kinfolk were slain during a white dragon attack which he swore vengeance against. He travels from place to place looking for information on the white dragon to satiate his rage against it.
I have other options for characters but did not want to overwhelm the post

Character concepts: A lot of ideas but I have 3 I can always bring to the table, 1. Drax, a human monk. 2. Dart, a human warlock. 3. Xavier, a human cleric.
I am EST and able to play on roll20 after a refresher and have discord, video and audio. If you wish to see these characters better or more filled I'll be happy to PM their sheets with their basic backgrounds.
I will be able to play on east coast time, I have to go to bed at 8;:30
Elliott Neve
Name & Age: Chris 28
Experience: almost 20 years of playing since AD&D (including DMing through 3.5 and 5)
Character concepts: Grath Goatfoot an infernal tiefling (SCAG). Abandoned as a babe like many tieflings, Grath Goatfoot was raised by a tribe of northern barbarians. They did not shun him for his form but praised it. Many of Grath’s kinfolk were slain during a white dragon attack which he swore vengeance against. He travels from place to place looking for information on the white dragon to satiate his rage against it.
I have other options for characters but did not want to overwhelm the post
