"The most immersive and enjoyable experience I’ve ever had playing D&D was with Darra as our DM. His dedication to story structure and immaculate consciousness of detail provided a campaign that could well be a best selling fantasy novel. The personality and emotion that Darra puts into the characters he creates will have you on crying laughing one minute and biting your nails on the edge of your seat the next. He created avatars of all our characters and their weapons and equipment and even the items and notes we picked up during the quest were all designed with beautiful detail and we could review and inspect almost everything at any time which really added to the sense of reward from “looting”. The difficulty of the fights was perfection as well as we had to exhaust all of our powers as a party to be victorious. The variety of races, creatures, abilities and defences, had us having to really delve deep into our spell books and special items which we picked up along the way to win the epic battles. I can’t rate Darra high enough, not only a dungeon master but a writer, actor, strategist and artist. 10/10 would bang." - Ruben
"I spent a long time looking for a good online game of D&D over the pandemic, and finally decided it was worth trying out a paid game. I joined one of Darra's campaigns with a few friends and it was worth every penny. He puts so much work into tailoring the game to fit the group, and making sure we felt like we were part of the World he created. We never felt boxed in or railroaded, and he has made every step of the campaign fun and rewarding." - Beans
"During one session, we were having so much fun just goofing around in a new town that we decided to just ignore our current story thread and go on a pub crawl. Not only did Darra adapt and make this sudden diversion from the plan fun, but he managed to work it into the ongoing story by the end in a hilarious way. You won't regret choosing him as a DM." - Mairéad
750 Years Ago, the 'Osterreich War' ended, with the Kingdom of Nova victorious over the allied forces of it's smaller neighbouring isles. The Nova Forces conscripted workers from the defeated peoples of what they now called 'The Vectus States' to construct a huge, walled city on their home of 'Viventum' to serve as their new capital. After over 100 years, 'Regulus Nova' was completed. Since the end of the war, travel from the Vectus States to Viventum has been forbidden. The World is changing, strange forces have begun to awaken, and people have noticed.
You will play as characters making their way to the Isle of Viventum from one of the Vectus States for the first time in their lives.
DM Name: Darra
Game Times: 7:30pm - 10:30pm Thursdays, GMT
Way We Play: I play using Discord Voice Chat, D&D Beyond for Character Sheets (I have 20 Sourcebooks worth of Extras to use) and Roll20 for Battlemaps and other visual elements such as World Maps and story props like letters, puzzles and artefacts. I have a degree in Graphic Design which I like to use to create visuals through Maps, props, custom encounter battlemaps etc. to try and increase player immersion and fun. I will post a link to some examples below.
Game Style: My playstyle is around a 70/30 balance of Roleplay & Story to Combat. I like to focus on story, world interaction, mystery and puzzles in my campaigns, but I also love designing challenging and interesting combat scenarios. The setting is classic Fantasy, with a story that includes serious themes of mystery and intrigue, but I also tend to lean towards light-hearted fun. A good mix I suppose. If a group prefers a different mix of RP/Combat or a more serious tone, I can easily adjust the sessions accordingly.
Number Searching For: 5 Players (3 Slots Remaining)
Rate: €5 for Session 1, then €15 Per Session.
Graphics:
I like to add as many custom visual elements to my games as I can. I have a degree in Graphic Design which I use to create custom Battlemaps, Visual Props/Documents/Artefacts, Puzzle/Dungeon elements etc. Here are some examples:
I am a big fan of creating deep character backstories for the players in my campaign. Once 3 Sessions have been paid for, I will work with each player to create an in-depth history for their characters that gives them a firm footing in the world, and possibilities for personal stories during the Campaign. They range from around 1600 to around 4000 words (If I really get carried away).
For an example of one of these backstories, Click Here.
Character Portraits:
I have begun creating custom character portraits for my players using modded Skyrim and Photoshop. Once 5 Sessions have been paid for I will create and present these portraits in an upcoming session.
Some examples of these portraits can be seen below:
Another element I'm a big fan of, creating custom items that fit the world or suit a particular character. A couple of examples (with full item description) below:
Since I first ran a very early version of this Campaign in 2018, I have grown and deepened this World through playing it with groups (both casual and professional) and through writing.
For a more in-depth account of World History pre-campaign (At least, what would be known to your new characters), Click Here.
The Vectus States:
Players will begin the Campaign as characters who have lived their entire lives in one of the 'Vectus States', the 3 Island Nations that have been under the rule of the Nova since the war. To give you a better idea of the possibilities, here are maps and descriptions of each one:
