Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online, preferably over discord or skype/zoom. Experience: New Location/Timezone: CDT Schedule: Hoping to get a group together to play Thursday evenings after, for no longer than 3 or 4 hours. The expected time would be 7-10pm. Roles sought: 2-3 Players (One player spot has already been taken) Game style: I DM VERY RP heavy, but I try to add a fair amount of combat to spice things up. I'm perfectly fine bending rules as long as they're in the spirit of the game, and I try to reward player creativity as much as possible. Rules and ideal players will be mentioned below, as well as information about the campaign and world.
Ideal Players: I'm generally looking for newer players who are wanting to learn the game alongside me, although anyone who is willing to bend the rules a little bit here is welcome. If you are super hardcore about following the rules as written this probably isn't the group for you, as I have quite a few house rules and I'm not very good at following RAW. Players must be LGBTQ+ friendly. This is a non-negotiable, as the world is LGBTQ+ friendly and I will not have any players in the campaign who would be uncomfortable with this.
Table Rules: The following are rules at my table that will be included no matter who joins or what we play. Other rules may be added after a group is chosen.
- All characters MUST have a reason to want to explore with the party, and I'll expect you to have this reason handy if asked.
- We will be using only classes and races found in the player's handbook. This is a beginner-friendly campaign and I want to make things as easy as possible. Any exceptions must first be approved by the DM (myself) and then the entire table.
- Loophole exploitation is encouraged within reason! Give your fellow players a chance to have fun and we'll be golden.
- No PVP will be allowed without prior discussion and both players' consent.
- I will never interfere with a player's anti-party choices, but I encourage the party to interfere if the situation arises.
- Session 0 will include a discussion of triggers/subjects that players would prefer not to be included in game.
The World: (a BRIEF description of the world and the major problem the characters will be facing)
Our players come from a world of classic dnd magic, known to its citizens as Inari. Elves, dwarves, halflings, and other, stranger creatures roam freely, living their lives blissfully unaware of anything outside of their own lives. They go about their days' blacksmithing, leatherworking, and worrying about dire wolves eating their livestock. Sure, their world has faced its fair share of evil, but the past era has been a time of peace! Little do they know, Inari is on the verge of collapse. The past century has seen an ever-increasing immigration into their continent by a new race, a race that calls themselves 'humans.' With these 'humans' appearing literally out of thin air, the common people of Inari are on edge. Who are these newcomers, where are they coming from, and what do they want from us? This is what our players have set out to discover.
- My suggested races (for setting purposes) are dwarves, elves, halflings, and humans. Others will be allowed, these will just be the easiest to fit into the story :) There will also only be one of each class, so it'll be more of a first come first serve type of deal.
- Starting level will be LVL 1!!!! Since this is a newbie campaign I want to let everyone get a feel for the characters before we get into anything too gritty. Try to keep this in mind during character creation
- Length of the campaign will vary, I have no expectations.
The System: I use One More Multiverse for battle maps, but that's about it. You WILL need to make an account and add your character before our first real session, but we will only be using this website for battles, so don't worry too much about learning the system. We'll learn together as we go :) We WILL be making a discord group, but I'm okay with deciding together with the group whether or not we want to move to Skype at any point. I do intend to implement an anonymous form to be filled out after each session so I can get feedback from players who might be worried about talking to me in person about in-game issues.
About me: Hi! I saw someone else make an about me section and wanted to give it a go :) My name is Miranda (she/her), I'm 21, and this is the second campaign I've DM'd. My first is actually still going on! I've only been doing this for a few months but I love it and want to find a good group to play with. I work in a library and I love my job very much. Part of the reason I'm doing this is because I'm looking into hosting a dnd group at my library and I want more experience. I can very much be a stickler for rules, and when I set boundaries I usually stick to them very strongly. Don't take this too harshly though! I love the game and I love seeing how creative players can be, and when it comes to the actual rules of the game, I tend to be much more lax. I WILL love your characters as if they were my own, and the backstory of the campaign WILL be formed around this fact. I'm willing to discuss anything and answer any questions regarding your characters or the world if you're willing to talk to me about it.
