I’m a DM with 4 years of experience and I’m currently looking for a group of players 3 or 4. For 3 years I’m running a consistent campaign in a homebrew world using DnD 5e rule set for more than 120 episodes so far. And as the world expands I wanted to add more stories to my world of Tethir.
I’m considering to run one or several small and fairly simply games (1-3 episodes) for 4-5 LvL characters at first in order to find a matching mindset of players for a long-lasting (1 year+) game. The games are expected to be on a consistent basis once a week and last about 4 hours.
The games would start 6.30-7PM GMT+2 (EU time zone), currently considering Wednesdays or Fridays.
What I offer:
a Homebrew world that consists of several kingdoms actively influencing the affairs of the neighbors.
A standard, one could say, fantasy with humans/orcs/elves/dwarves and other basic fantasy setting elements, 5 edition lore is present and used, but is not the core
Several factions (Adventure guild, several mercenary guilds, several night guilds, noble houses) that are seeking to extend their influence in Tethir
Death is always an option, however usually only EXTREMELY unlucky rolls or just silly/unprepared “what would happen if I just jump into volcano” kind of actions would cause such an outcome. Death of a character doesn’t mean the end of the game for you, it only marks the “end” of a journey for that character.
What is expected from you as a player:
Character creation via dndbeyond. I would be sharing the access to materials provided in all of Source books (except Unearthed Arcana and Vecna), so the players don’t need to own any books. For intro games the characters will be pre-generated, but the players can still choose a preferred class.
If you don’t have any experience in playing DnD 5e, that is not a problem, I’m happy to explain mechanics and basic rules. However it is expected, that after some time (month or so), you as a player would be completely proficient with YOUR character possibilities and know how your spells/abilities work.
The world will not be centered on the players, rather the players will try to influence the world to the best of their abilities to leave a mark. The world will react to the players actions accordingly, so purely murder-hoboing behavior is possible but has low chance to last for long.
The trial games are completely free, however in case there is matching group of players, the long term campaign games would be paid per game basis.
It is 18+ game
What NOT to expect from the game:
If winning DnD is your mindset, that is probably not the game for you.
if you are only here for the combat, that is probably not the game for you.
if you are a rules lawyer type of a player, this game might not be for you, as I would be bending/adjusting what 5e can offer for the flow of the game, as I value drama and “rule of cool” moments over rigid borders of Monster’s stat blocks.
I’m not a native English speaker, for some it might be a no-go right away.
Technical means for us as a group:
Discord for good audio AND good video (it’s important to see other people for group dynamics). Stable internet goes without saying.

More than 40 already existing locations (world map can be seen here: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/tethir-poiles/map/0db88f5b-492b-47a4-a5d0-16ed74c35b2f), and it’s not a problem to create new ones for long term campaign.

Discord for good audio AND good video (it’s important to see other people for group dynamics). Stable internet goes without saying.
For battles I’m using Tabletop Simulator (https://store.steampowered.com/app/286160/Tabletop_Simulator/), so if you happen to have it, you’d just join the server. In case you are not able to do so, you can still see the battlefield properly in Discord as I’m streaming the battlefield screen there. The example of a battle can be seen here https://youtu.be/iel8bMklJuo?t=483.
Players would need to install a simple browser add-on called Beyond 20 (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/beyond-20/gnblbpbepfbfmoobegdogkglpbhcjofh), that would allow the player to click on the needed skills/checks in their character sheet on dndbeyond and that will be sent it to a dedicated discord channel:
The only thing that players would need to do is to
install the add-on
input the secret key that I will provide to the add-on settings during our call
add-on exists for both chrome and Firefox
You can check the example of the game via our VOD on youtube here: https://youtu.be/lEE79mhHIF0?t=11333
Please leave your discord contact details here, and I will contact you.
Thank you for your time!
Finally a new campaign by Poirls ! Sign me up.
