GOAL: Looking for DM who is willing to DM for us and kindly teach an inexperienced group of new players.
WHO ARE WE? I am the host of a small Pacific Northwest group of adult women/fem-presenting people. We are women all interested in D&D but none of us knew anything about it, how to get started, nor find people in our lives to teach us. Instead, I formed a group of us to learn together. Our group has a zero-tolerance policy. We are a group of women who support AAPI, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ communities, and believe in women-uplifting-women. We believe Trans women are women. We do not judge about kids/no kids, parenting styles (unless it violates human rights), anyone's relationship status, job/stay-at-home status, financial status. We are from all different backgrounds and lifestyles, and all understand that none of us are well versed in D&D, so respect towards each other, our game play as individuals, and the decisions we make in game are the pinnacle of our group's interaction with you, you towards us, and towards each other. We are all comfortable playing any gender (or non-binary status) of character. We're a fun loving, full of laughter, friendly, and open group.
OUR ABILITY We recently tried our first "one-shot" (just learned that term yesterday) D&D event where we had a DM introduce us to D&D, how to play, the vocabulary, etc. We are all starting from ground zero. The first event was such a success we're eager to learn more and do a second one-shot as we continue to learn how to play. The problem was our first "one shot" was in-person and trying to schedule and organize that (with me having zero knowledge of how to do so) was a bit like herding cats. We're still learning the vocabulary, when to roll vs not, how to read and understand character sheets.
WHAT DO WE WANT/NEED? Because we're a women-only group, we would prefer a woman/fem-presenting DM. One who is willing to work on West Coast time to host an online only D&D event(s) in the late evenings. (No start time earlier than 6:30 PM (PST).) Are you a DM who loves to teach, has the patience for a slow paced, one-shot campaign filled with pauses to answer questions about game play? Are you someone willing to do evening/late Friday nights? Are you willing to DM completely online? Are you willing to setup characters on your own, then give a few hints to the personalities to the group for the group to choose their character to kick off the event? We need someone to steer us in an easy-to-understand direction for further resources in understanding the game. We're looking for a DM who loves to teach, support, gently mediate when we get off-topic for too long, and guide in decision making.
GENRE Our first one-shot showed that we are all up for adventure, mystery, problem solving, and not afraid of danger. None of us know enough about D&D to use the correct words to exactly describe what we want.
If this sounds like you'd like to teach, please reach out! We're looking forward to working with you.
Please be aware, I don't really use Discord (and I don't quite understand it, so messaging me through DNDBeyond is the best way to communicate with me at this time.
Is Friday the only day you can play? I would be willing to teach you guys as I am looking to DM a new group. I do use Discord, but we can set that up later. When High School Football starts we would have to possible take a break as I coach. Let me know if you want to talk further.
