The March of a Thousand Feet... A short 3-Part Campaign
Part 1
Come ye, aboard the luxury vessel Mystra's Dream - she be the finest specimen of comfort that dances upon the swaying waves of the Trackless Sea. We invite you to join us on this luxury cruise, as we whisk you away to the Ierendi Isles, a tropical paradise where you can forget about giants, and lizardfolk and gnolls. Where you will hear whispers, not of the treacherous plots and schemes of devils and demons, but of the sweetness of our drinks - expertly prepared by master Elvish mixologists and embellished with just a touch of real magic. Meet leisure seekers from Calimport, to Chult, to the ancient Dales. Aquatic performances by our resident 'Aquan Acrobats' will dazzle you while you wait for an open-air lunch to be served on the polished wooden deck. Pay little attention to rumours of goblin pirates that patrol these waters, our security team have the sharpest swords, pointiest arrows, and most stylish armour on the Sword Coast.Tickets are going fast and are available now for the low low price of 200 gold dragons (Waterdeep currency exchanges will be done at competitive rates). Cruise departs from the port of the Roaring Dragon House along the River Dessarin, 2 miles up from the Waterdeep South gate.
NOTE: Mystra's Dream is registered under the "Cassalanter Shipping and Labour Co." Merchant No. 8341, The Waterdeep Mercantile and Maritime Guild. Paid service positions are still available aboard the vessel, in particular: deck hands, chef assistants, and latrine quality supervisors. Pay rates start at 20 pieces of recovered copper per day, experience in peeling potatoes, descaling fish, and waste disposal a plus.
"Ierendi Isles - very few bugs, very few dinosaurs, the safer tropical paradise (This message brought to you by the Ierendi Isles Tourism Board)
Levels: 0 - 1 Style: RP 70% - Combat 30% Description: This introductory portion will run over 2 sessions lasting approx. 4hrs each. There is something of a nautical theme, but this adventure takes place mainly on land. If it is a high sea-swashbuckling-cannon shooting-shanty singing adventure you are looking for, this will not scratch your itch. The adventure will begin with a "funnel" - a term and concept that comes from Dungeon Crawl Classics. Players control multiple level 0 classless commoner characters who have turmoil thrust upon them, and the few characters who survive are marked as heroes. It's only at this point that you will choose your level 1 class. Important to note: because stats are rolled, and there is no guarantee which characters survive, you might not be able to have the ideal stats for a class you may have in mind. Because of these reasons, it is important to remain flexible and this game is more suited toward players who enjoy the story and RP aspect of a game. If you are the type of player who enjoys min/maxing, this may not be your cup of tea.
Part 2
According to legend, two families of dragons came into being in the very first days of the world’s creation. Bahamut, the noble Platinum Dragon, made the metallic dragons—gold, silver, bronze, brass, and copper. Cruel, five-headed Tiamat made the chromatic dragons—red, blue, green, black and white. The metallic and chromatic dragons share a mutual animosity that originates in the enmity between Bahamut - the King of Metallic Dragons, and Tiamat - the Queen of Chromatic Dragons. Dragons of Stormwreck Isle draws the characters into the midst of an ancient war among dragons as they explore an island that has long been a battlefield in that conflict.
Levels: 1 - 3 Style: RP 50% - Combat 50% Description: The main body of the campaign, will consist of the official "Intro to Stormwreck Isle", followed directly by "Dragons of Stormwreck Isle", run mostly by the book. This portion of the adventure was tailor made for beginners as an introductory module. Though more experienced players will also find intrigue and excitement on Dragon's Rest.
Part 3
Two centuries ago, the great dwarf smith Durgeddin the Black and his clan were driven from their home by a horde of fierce orcs and trolls. They plundered the dwarves’ ancestral halls and slew all they could catch. Fleeing his enemies, Durgeddin led the destitute remnants of his clan in search of a new home. After years of wandering, the dwarves discovered a great cavern system beneath the Stone Tooth: a rugged, forested hill crowned by a bare rocky crag. There Durgeddin and his followers founded the stronghold of Khundrukar.
Levels: 3 - 5 Style: RP 40% - Combat 60% Description: Wrap-Up. After completing the adventure in Part 2, we run a non-official encounter (Possibly 1 Session) to set the stage for Part 3, then move on to a dungeon crawl in "Forge of Fury". Important to note, this is mostly a Dungeon Crawl and not everyone may enjoy this style of play that makes up the final portion of the campaign - delving into the unknown depths of ancient ruins also proves extremely dangerous.
(Optional) Part 4. This is a medium length campaign. The above sets the foundations and story for extending to a longer campaign from level 5+. If the group has good chemistry and we all wish to continue then the campaign and story will develop and continue through levels (5-10).
[ Requirements]
Age - 21+, you also need to be ok with themes that may be uncomfortable. This is a safe table, many adventures were written to contain themes that people may find difficult today. We need bad guys, we need heroes, and we need good to triumph over evil (usually). I don't run any card system, if you are generally sensitive to difficult themes, this may not be for you.
Tech - A system capable of running Foundry and Discord. Please have a decent mic or headset, no phones. Bad quality or 'tinny' transmissions or noisy backgrounds can ruin it for other players.
Respect for Other Players - Please be respectful of all other players. On that, leave political views out of games, regardless of where they lie. We are here to have fun and to forget about reality for a few precious hours.
Metagaming - Please do not apply if you have played any of the content mentioned above. Metagaming sucks.
Have an open mind - Bad things might happen to your characters, they will get sick and injured. They will experience sadness, and joy. Let's have fun getting to know new people and sharing in each-other's story.
[ General Info ]
Slots Available: 4
System Used: 5e + some house rules (There are some substantial house rules used for Travel, which are designed to drain party resources)
Session Duration: Sessions last 4hrs, slightly shorter if natural stop. Will try to start sessions on time. We will have a short break at the halfway point.
Schedule: Mondays, 17:00 (UTC+1) [EU Timezone] Session 0: We will need to find a slot of approx 1hr sometime before Session 1 to conduct a 1-1 Session 0 Session 1: Monday, 13th May 2024 17:00
People who enjoy the min/max playstyle, or don't like it when bad things happen to their characters, do not usually enjoy my style of DM'ing. I generally try to run intelligent monsters, for example - an evil sorcerer might attack a downed player to inflict suffering on his enemies, whereas a bugbear might prefer to simply bonk the biggest enemy... It doesn't matter how much experience you have, beginners are welcome, as long as we embrace the journey and shared story of our characters. A player would fit well in this game, who - is ok with some harder house rules/character creation. Values the RP aspect of the game more than min/maxing or powergaming. Atleast takes some session notes and understand, or learns to understand, their character and capabilities.
If you are interested, please reply here with the following info: - Age, (M/F) - You meet all the requirements mentioned above, ie timezone, decent mic, etc, *(please also understand the implications of Part 1 of the campaign, or ask if you would like more info) - Your experience (Just brief outline is fine) - Any questions you may have
this genuinely looks so cool but i am not 21+, such a shame. good luck for this campaign though, it looks great and i can tell you put a lot of effort into it!
Thanks everyone for the interest. I believe it is really important for a group to have good chemistry, especially because this will potentially extend to a longer campaign after level 5. So I am trying to talk to everyone first :)
Sorry if I have not yet got in touch, I will in the next few days. Currently there are still spaces.
Hi! I've also replied on the discord server (as Swägermeister), but just to be sure I'll post here as well.
I am a 26 yo male, have a good mic and have no issues with the schedule. I am intrigued by the funnel structure in the opening of the campaign and I am not a min-maxer so no worries there. I have played only a few IRL sessions with friends, besides that I have watched a ton of DnD content but I would for sure consider myself a beginner in terms of actual play. Nevertheless, I am eager to learn and play, so I hope to join your campaign!
Unfortunately someone has had to drop from this game because of some timing issues. We have not started this campaign yet, session 1 is currently set for Monday 13th. We have however had the session 0, and we will need to have a 1 on 1 session 0 before Monday, which should only last about 1 hour.
If you are interested, please reply with info:
- Age, (M/F) - You meet all the requirements mentioned above, ie timezone, decent mic, etc, *(please also understand the implications of Part 1 of the campaign, or ask if you would like more info) - Your experience (Just brief outline is fine) - Any questions you may have - Discord tag (feel free to DM me your discord tag if you don't want it visible)
- Age, 30 M - You meet all the requirements mentioned above, ie timezone, decent mic, etc, *(please also understand the implications of Part 1 of the campaign, or ask if you would like more info) UK time zone - Your experience (Just brief outline is fine) just over 5 years - Any questions you may have - Discord tag (feel free to DM me your discord tag if you don't want it visible) joeythecoolcheesecake
Are you bored sitting in your wizard tower, inscribing another teleportation circle, deciphering just another ichor-stained manual from the lower planes? Or perhaps you are simply tired of being raided by orcs, and goblins, and raiders... perhaps you want to do some raiding of your own for a change!
This spot is ideal for someone who is:
Experienced with 5e (not a beginner)
Available for a 1hr One-to-One Session 0 before Monday
Read and understand details above, if any questions, feel free to ask
