I'm looking for open-minded players who are down for a one-shot playing a party of barbarian chieftains leading a barbarian horde to over throw an elven fortress. If you're interested hit me. I'll be running this multiple times for interested players and tables.
The crimson sun sets over the once-glorious city of Lys'ael, casting long shadows that dance with the flames of destruction. The air, thick with the scent of burning wood and echoes of cries long silenced, tells a story of a war that spanned generations. The Silverwood Forest, which once shimmered with the magic of its elven protectors, now stands muted, its trees bearing silent witness to the devastation.
As the leaders of the barbarian horde, the Unified Tribes of the Wastelands, you and your fellow chieftains gaze upon the city's ruins, a testament to your might and the culmination of a 120-year-long vendetta. The elven resistance, once fierce and unyielding, is all but quelled. Only the Temple of the Moonlit Star remains untouched, its gleaming spires defiantly piercing the sky.
Running this again! Hit me up if you want to play!
1. What is the primary goal for the players in this one-shot? Are they supposed to investigate the Temple of the Moonlit Star, deal with lingering elven forces, or something else?
The primary goal of the one shot is allow the players to play as an all-evil party in order to get their power fantasy fill. Typically most dungeon masters will never allow an all-evil party so this is an easy way to give potential players a taste of something they've never experienced before. There are supposed to be four floors / encounters to this one-shot which the elves putting up more of a fight with each progressive floor in the same way that Bruce Lee had progressively more difficult challenges in Game of Death.
2. What tone are you aiming for in this adventure?
I want the players to feel a dark but fun vibe. I want the players to feel like empowered, overwhelming forces of nature, who could conquer the world if they could only work through their differences. Inherently I want the vibe to be like that of a dark power fantasy comedy.
3. Are there any specific themes or motifs you want to explore?
No. I just want to offer and fulfill a power fantasy on behalf of the players. I want them to tear through the elves and feel like the conquering forces they are roleplaying.
4. What kind of challenges or obstacles do you envision the players facing?
No puzzles. On each of the four floors, I want to create unique encounters with increasingly difficult and unique experiences. It's supposed to be a war module and the more I can make it feel like a war scenario where the barbarian horde's conquest of the elves is imminent the better. The strongest of the elven forces should be protecting the elf hierarchy and clergy on the top floor.
5. What role does the Temple of the Moonlit Star play in the story?
This is a religious temple for the Elves.
6. What are the personalities and backgrounds of the barbarian chieftains?
This will be decided by the players.
7. What kind of NPCs might the players interact with?
This is a four hour one-shot and it's supposed to be a straight shot from the bottom of the temple tearing through all the enemies that the players come across. I want to keep it interesting but simple.
8. What sort of resolution are you aiming for?
Well that's really dependent the player actions. As-is I simply want the players to kill everyone, obtain maps and strategies the elves had for defeating other kingdoms in the Faerun, giving them a significant upgrade to their logistics for conquering the world. However, as we all know, players might simply decide something crazy like toppling the tower from the outside. That's kind of the fun of Dungeons and Dragons.
9. How do you want to handle character progression and rewards?
On each floor I would like to reward players with additional magic items.
