We're a few players, ranging from a little experience to a ton of experience, looking for a DM to start up a game/campaign using the new D&D 2024 system rules.
We’re looking to participate in a dynamic game that’s a collaborative storytelling experience where players feel invested in their characters, navigate challenging situations, make impactful choices, and have fun within a well-crafted world, with the Dungeon Master facilitating an engaging narrative that balances combat, exploration, roleplaying, and player agency. Not to mention where the DM gets to be as creative as they want, truly enjoys the game and has fun running it.

POSSIBLE SUGGESTIONS ON DM TRAITS AND APPROACH:
1. Dynamic Storytelling: A DM who thrives on weaving intricate plots but leaves space for player actions and decisions to shape the world. They can craft compelling stories but recognize that the characters' choices should direct the flow of the narrative, making the game feel like a shared creation.
2. Player Agency: A balance of freedom and guidance, where the DM provides ample opportunities for players to influence the world, interact with NPCs, and make meaningful decisions. Players’ actions should have a tangible impact on the unfolding story, whether it’s saving a town, changing the politics of a kingdom, or uncovering hidden truths.
3. Creative Worldbuilding: With the new D&D 2024 rules (likely incorporating aspects of 5E, but with new mechanics, expanded customization, and potentially more narrative-driven systems), the DM should be able to explore new mechanics in creative ways. They should enjoy designing diverse environments, lore-rich factions, and morally complex societies that give depth to the setting.
4. Collaborative Atmosphere: The game isn’t just about rolling dice or defeating monsters—it's about creating moments where players feel connected to the world and to each other. A great DM will encourage roleplay, foster player interaction, and ensure that each player feels valued and integral to the game.
5. Balancing Combat, Exploration, and Roleplay: This DM will find the sweet spot between narrative-driven exploration and exciting combat encounters, never overloading players with one type of gameplay. They can craft intricate dungeons and mysteries, build tension in combat, and provide roleplaying opportunities that allow players to dig deep into their characters' personalities and backstories.
6. Fun and Engagement: Ultimately, the DM is there to ensure that everyone is having fun, including themselves! They should bring energy to the game, improvise when needed, and adjust the game as necessary to keep the group engaged. Whether it’s introducing new mechanics, adding plot twists, or being flexible with rules for the sake of fun, the focus should always be on creating an enjoyable experience.
Are you still looking for a DM? I am an old grognard from way back, but now playing 5.24 edition. I am looking for players to start an in-person group. Simi / San Fernando Valley area. I have many campaigns that I've written and can run pre-written but tweeked adventures if need be.
I'd love to join in if there's room. I'm currently in the process of moving to Woodland Hills.
If there's a spot, feel free to shoot me a message and I can talk a bit more about myself, so you can get a sense if I'd click with the group or not :)
