🏰 About the Adventure
It is the year 1517 DR. 36 years have passed since the Red Hand Horde War in the Elsir Vale. For the most part, the Vale has rebuilt and prospered, with leadership becoming more centralised under Brindol. However, in recent decades, the power of House Jarmaath has waned, while the other noble houses on the ruling council have steadily gained influence. Rumors of corruption and infighting among the nobility continue to spread.
The people of the Elsir Vale have grown increasingly uneasy. Threats are on the rise, bandits and monsters roam the wilderness, orcs and goblins raid outlying towns, and ever more disturbing rumors from the west speak of orcs on the warpath.
In response to these dangers, the Vale has seen a rise in mercenary activity. Hired blades take on whatever work they can find—caravan protection, monster hunting, or guard duty—seeking coin where it's offered. Meanwhile, the various town guards remain focused on maintaining order within their own borders, leaving the roads and wilds more vulnerable than ever.
With trade routes disrupted and the costs of rebuilding mounting, House Jarmaath has lost much of its former wealth. Once a symbol of prosperity, the house now looks outward, seeking new markets for the goods the Vale produces in abundance.
Our story begins abit later:
Our story began with a band of unproven heroes who, over the past six months, have built a reputation for courage and valor. They are now known as the Heroes of Overlook, champions of the capital city of the West Marches.
They first earned their fame when they aided in stopping an orc assault on Overlook, slaying the orc leader after infiltrating ancient dwarven tunnels that led close to the city walls.
Recently, the party returned to Overlook at the request of a friend: Lavina of Tyr, a devoted cleric who had noticed that many of her fellow clerics were acting strangely. Following her concerns, the heroes uncovered a sinister plot; the city’s High Cleric had been replaced by a doppelganger, and many others were possessed by unknown forces.
After rescuing the real High Cleric, the party learned of a far greater threat. An as-yet-unidentified enemy planned to use Mountainroot Temple, an ancient and long-sealed temple of Moradin, to teleport troops directly into Overlook and seize the city from within.
Our heroes journeyed to Mountainroot Temple, where they battled and defeated the enemy’s forces. There, they freed the Caretaker, an azer who had bound himself to the temple to guard it for eternity. Recognizing the danger, the Caretaker chose to seal the temple once more, until the day Moradin himself deems it wise to reopen.
However, as the heroes left the temple, the ancient magics of that otherworldly place malfunctioned. Though only a few hours seemed to pass within the temple, weeks had gone by in the mortal world. Upon their return, the Heroes of Overlook found the city once again under siege.

🎲 About Your Dungeon Master
Greetings, adventurers! I’m a 32-year-old Dane with a deep love of fantasy, inspired by Tolkien and the world of Critical Role. My DM style is rooted in dynamic storytelling, grounded world-building, taking influence from Matt Colville, and I love making epic moments that players will remember for years. I prioritise player enjoyment, the “rule of cool,” and creative problem-solving.
I put great effort into making a world that feels real for my players, and making the experience feel like friends sitting around the dining room table playing at home, with plenty of room for casual silliness and a focus on the serious story elements, many of my players have gone on to form real life friendships outside of the game as well, and with groups still running with the same players after 5 years, I think this attests to the quality of my games.
I pride myself on my easy-going attitude and consistency. I have run many paid groups over the past half-decade and have had great success introducing completely new players to the game and hobby. I would love to welcome anyone new to my table.
🔧 How I Run the Game
Tools & Immersion: Professional maps, custom handouts, in-world calendar, thematic music, and a visually engaging Roll20 setup.
Combat & Pacing: Fast and strategic combat that keeps everyone engaged, alongside character-driven roleplay moments, I employ various API’s and macros to enhance the Roll20 experience.
Player Feedback: I encourage open communication between sessions to ensure everyone’s having fun and that the game evolves to meet player interests.
👥 The Players We’re Looking For
We value group chemistry and are seeking players who enjoy teamwork, respect the narrative, and love to share the spotlight. A short interview process helps us ensure that you’re a great fit for our group.

Hello, I have been a player in one of cavaire's games for 5 years.
These games have been a highlight in my week and a pleasure to play in. Cavaire runs his games very professionally and puts alot of work into npcs, settings, plots, and everything in between. Having a "living world" to play in is such a hard thing to do but I can comfortably say that he does it well.
The games balance of RP/combat is important and us as players have a huge impact on it. We've had dungeon crawls that lasted sessions and full on sessions of just RP. But its always the players that push the narative into thoese directions and it never feels like there is one choice we have to make. I always appreciate how much agency we have in these games and having a DM that can make adjustments and alterations acording to players RP and And character choices is hard to find.
In short, if your looking for a in depth game you can rely on weekly with engaging players and a DM that is attentively crafting a world to dive into this is it. Im eager to start the next campaign and meet some new faces on the way!
The effort and genuine interest and thoughts he puts into his game and the player characters involved is everything and more I would expect of a great DM. With the group I felt welcomed instantly and I've been nothing but happy with that decision!
Almost every dnd player complains about not finding time with friends or rescheduling ... So the consistency of these games is a huuuge plus, playing every week feels like an ongoing epic adventure and I always can't wait to play the next one.
Cavaires DMing is insanely professional, always well prepared and his detailed descriptions paired with atmospheric music make for the perfect game experience. For me it's a great combination of interesting roleplay, thrilling combat and always another secret waiting around the corner...
So if that sounds like something you'd like : this is your chance!! 😇
The current party is comprised of the following Characters
Ozzy - The party leader - The Blade singing Wizard, Ozzy is a highly religious character a follower of Tyr, he formed the mercenary band that is our heroes, and will often have a tale of inspiration to tell at any given moment, or a grand old smile if things are looking tough, nothing can diminish the glee on Ozzy's face.
Fulke - Cap'n Fulke to most - A spirits bard, who still is not quite sure how his powers work or where they come from. He's not really a captain of anything, but locals called him so as he wore an old Captain's Jacket, and the name kinda just stuck with him. He is most often seen hiding beneath a cart when combat begins; however, he always have a spell ready to aid his allies (from the safety of his hiding spots)
Roan - the human barbarian, she struggles with keeping he rage under control in the heat of battle, but outside of combat she really is a sweet thing, with a cute pig back home. She took from the Orc Warleader Tusk, the Great Axe Hew, which has since claimed many more lives of evildoers.
Orik - The Undying Warlock, Orik's past and patron remain a mystery, and not many in the group wish to ask the questions of where his tentacles or powers come from, they are just happy that when he starts blasting, that the attacks go against the enemy and not themselves. He wields a hag's old severed finger as a wand.
Rocco - The Draconic Sorcerer, Rocco has a complicated past, one deeply tied to the passing of a black dragon, of which the energy from its soul seems to have been imparted into Rocco, who now wields the power of a black dragon to do good.
Bastard - The Hexblade warlock, Bastard grew up with little, taking to the streets often, quickly earning himself his name, which he wears with pride. He's impulsive and straightforward, and seems to have made a deal with some entity within a blade, that he is starting to maybe regret binding himself too. - This is saddly the player who has to step away from the group

I’ve been playing with the DM for years now (currently on my third campaign) and wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for a good mix of RP, story and memorable battles. The DM is organized, well-prepared, and the sessions run smoothly from week to week. I’ve had a lot of fun playing, and the campaigns have been consistently reliable and easy to stay engaged with.
Hello. Ozzy here. been playing with this group for 5 years. We are definitely going to miss our buddy who is leaving but i will say that we are also excited to have someone come and join the party nonetheless and i would say this is a particularly good time to join as it feels as if the overarching story/conflict of our campaign is just now kicking off.
couple notes that i havent seen here mentioned *we are quite consistent with our game. I dont have an exact count but in a 1 year period the amount of sessions we miss as a whole has to be only 1 or two, then maybe a couple or so sessions we play off our normal sunday time to either make up that missed day or to adjust for the group as whole when conflicts arrise. these are typically only around the major holiday times like christmas. if we have session conflicts the grouup as a whole is fairly commuunicative and we try to adjust when possible.
* we have a pretty fun discord to be part of, a group that will engage in some between session rp, dm adding backstory lore things throughout the week, little teasers here or there, super nerd (in the best way possible) conversations both dnd and not that you can just wake up to one day depending on your time zone. its really good morning on the toilet reading if you know what i mean haha. lots of memes flying around as well.
*we dont get too crazy with it, just like how you can spend more time installing skyrim mods than actually playing the game, the same can be said for roll 20 api's and addons, but we have a few little extra roll20 things that i know arent standard that definitely add fun/immersion or quality of life.
*if you have a particularly high creative energy theres some good opportuntiy to add to the game with that in some way. a couple of us are stat trackers, one of us is all over a cool party sheet, got an artsy one in the group dropping art that could be on an album cover, theres some lore bombs that get dropped in at times by some of us, our leaving player was doing session highlight notes, session recordings and landing page home screen art. but if none of thats for you and wanna just jump in and play thats totally cool too.
You've got nothing to lose with the free session 0+1 so come give it a shot!
Sad to hear the group is losing someone with such an impeccable character name but I'm sure someone will fill their place soon enough! I've played in a couple of Christian's groups over the years and always found him to be a wonderful DM in more ways than one - While he excels at the game elements themselves (great storytelling, fun characters, balanced sessions), he's also just a lovely person to play with.
You can tell he cares a lot not only about the game but the players too, and always listens to our feedback or concerns to make sure we're having a fun time, happy with how things are going, and getting along with eachother. I trust that he chooses his group members well (he must do if I'm here), so you'll be in good company and certain to have fun.
Name (Real or preferred): Carneval Age:40 Pronouns: She/Her Country/Time Zone: United States - AKST. My best guess says game would be Sundays 0930 for me.
Preferred Story/Game Style: My favorite games are driven by the story and the characters, and less so on how many faces get punched. Though punching faces is definitely fun. Encounters should be challenging, everyone should feel like they accomplished something, whether it was using a niche ability from a recent level up, tying up a loose story line related to background or objective, or assisting a party member in a similar vein. Actions and choices made by characters should have realistic (in game) consequences - be it reward or repercussion, and alignments matter. I am not interested in games that require PvP or dogmatically antagonistic party members. 100% down for disagreements and differing objectives, we just gotta figure out how to get the party through!
Contribution to the Group: Dry wit, keen observation, and out of the box thinking.
Ideal Group Dynamics: Typically we should all work for the good of the group and to move the story forward. If it's someone's 'moment' let them have it and support it. Players should be working with the DM and each other to tell our story.
Experience with D&D/5e/Roll20/RP: Started with 3.5 many, many moons ago and it is the version I have the most experience with. Did a single 4e campaign and a handful of 5e events. Outside of D&D, I play a lot of games that require RP and have even been known to host a few murders. I have never used Roll20, I understand that is the group's gaming platform and could make the transition.
Premade Campaigns Played: SpellJammer is the only named campaign I can remember. I have done a few one shots or minis in game stores hosted by the store or WOtC, seemed to be a bit of campaigns / adventures that were for sale / newly released. I would say about 70% of my gaming has been homebrew with friends who knew a heck of a lot more about stuff than I do.
Additional Information: I really enjoyed reading the quick recap of the story so far! My thoughts on how to join:
1. Dwarven Paladin of Tyr, Oath of Devotion - Perhaps sent by the Church of Tyr to assist in the aftermath of ...issues, at the local church. As a young man had worked as a law clerk hoping one day to defend the innocent before the magistrate, but felt there was more to be done regarding Justice, Honor and Law. Stumbled across a Church of Tyr when attempting to answer this call and became a disciple. He is now a well respected Paladin, who is frequently called upon by the church to smooth out troubles in far flung reaches. Such evil is becoming a common theme on these excursions, and he is struggling to come to terms with the depth of these infiltrations, which in turn causes doubt of Tyr in the young pally's heart. This troubles him greatly.
2. All of this next bit will depend on how you feel about the Blacksteel Harbringers. Human Cleric of Moradin, Forge Domain. Hailing from vassals of a minor liege lord who fell to ruin during her grandfather's time. Poor choices compounded with bad luck and tainted with the pride of 'what used to be', the family's poverty and destitution grew. Fleeing from unpaid debts - a carriage, heavy with a family's worldly possessions, guardsmen who hadn't been paid in weeks and more bandits than she could count - trouble. A young girl stood no chance and soon found herself as a drudge for the bellows of that same band's blacksmith. For years he cursed her clumsy hands and weak limbs working the bellows, until the green flames came. Over and over again they came. It had been half a century since he'd conversed with his god, but, he could not ignore Moradin's sign. With the meagerest of supplies, and great risk to himself, he bundled up the girl and sent her to the nearest temple. Now that girl is grown, having spent the better part of her years tracking down evil relics, destroying forbidden knowledge, and eliminating the enemies of the god that saved her.
3. Really, I am open to anything that fits / makes sense. My comfort zone is melee/martial over spellcasting, but I would like to grow a bit on that front which is part of what prompted the above. I would be happy to delve into a warlock build and work out a way to transition into the group.
Questions for the DM: If options 1 and 2 aren't good - Are there species / race / background restrictions for your realm? How is leveling handled - EXP, event, other? Will source materials for character creation / understanding the realm come through the DM or will they need to be purchased? I have never used Roll20 and am unsure how it works.
My Discord is Carneval. I look forward to chatting with you!

I trust that he chooses his group members well (he must do if I'm here), so you'll be in good company and certain to have fun.
tl;dr: trust us and join in!
Name (Real or preferred): Carneval
Age:40
Pronouns: She/Her
Country/Time Zone: United States - AKST.
Questions for the DM:
If options 1 and 2 aren't good - Are there species / race / background restrictions for your realm?
How is leveling handled - EXP, event, other?
Will source materials for character creation / understanding the realm come through the DM or will they need to be purchased? I have never used Roll20 and am unsure how it works.
