New weekly game starting soon! Please read all of the details and send a message if you may be interested.
Game: D&D 5e, Lost Mine of Phandelver (may lead to longer campaign if players are interested)
Format: Online (D&D Beyond + virtual tabletop + text and voice)
Experience: First time players welcome. Experienced players also welcome, just be aware that we'll be taking the time to make sure new players have their questions answered. (I have been a DM on and off for 25 years, though this will be my first 5e game as a DM. This will be the first D&D game for the player already onboard.)
Time zone and schedule: Campaign will be run on US Pacific time (UTC-7:00), starting 5:30 or 6:00 pm Tuesday nights; plan on 3-4 hours per session. "Session 0" will be either April 7 or April 14, depending on how quickly we get players and characters set up. I expect the campaign to run weekly for over 2 months to complete Lost Mine. If some or all of the players would like to continue their adventures afterwards, we can definitely work out a way to do that.
Roles needed: 3-5 more players. We have a DM and one player.
Game style: Semi-casual, roleplay-heavy, new-player-friendly
If you're interested: Send PM. Please include:
1) Your experience with D&D (if any), other tabletop RPGs, other high-fantasy media in the same genre (novels, TV, games, etc.). Also let me know if you're familiar with the Forgotten Realms setting (through any of the above media); it's not in any way required, but it lets me know how much info I'll need to fill in.
2) 1-2 character concepts of about a paragraph each. I'm more interested in character concept than in the mechanical details (e.g. backstory more than class), but also let me know if you have a class in mind (or even a character sheet completed on D&D Beyond). If you'd like help developing a character sheet to fit your concept, let me know; I have time this weekend to walk you through the process. If you're building a character sheet, please use the published sourcebooks (no UA/playtest) and use the standard array or point-buy for attributes. Characters will be new to adventuring; this should be reflected in your character backstory (and characters will start at level 1).
3) Your experience using online text and audio/video chat (if any); between character and encounter tracking, text communication, and a voice meeting for each session, we'll be using several different pieces of software. I can walk you through setup, but it will help if you're at least somewhat comfortable setting up your software. The chat programs we will be using (Zulip and Jitsi) are cross-platform compatible (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android), so whatever device you prefer is fine.
NOTE: This will be an LGBT-friendly game. Sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. (in-character or out-of-character) behavior will not be appropriate. I'm not placing an age limit on the game (other than the D&D Beyond requirement); please be aware that the game will likely include violence, strong language, and ethically complicated situations, but will not be the place for "adults-only" content. As a rough estimate, compare content that could be expected in a mainstream TV or streaming series. If there is particular content that you are uncomfortable with, please let me know; I can set appropriate content rules, especially before we start the adventure.
A few years of experience, but they are mostly Homebrew Environments, so I'm not too extremely familiar with the Forgotten Realms.
I have a very in-depth Alchemist-Sage Githzerai (Monk/Sorcerer) that left his Monastery in Limbo due to being disgruntled with their religious practices, and seeks to unlock "the Ever-changing Chaos of Limbo" in the Material Plane and invent what he would call "Physic Alchemy", should he succeed.
I am also very adept with setting up Software on my 2015 MacBook Pro, so I can use whatever you need me to.

Hello, I'm new to D&D and would like to be included in your campaign.

PM Sent, hope to hear back from you soon!
