4. What kind of character prefer/want to play? Give as many details as you can, including personality and traits. (Please keep in mind that you may not be playing this exact character in this campaign.)
Johann (Yohan) Hill Dwarf Life Cleric (new for this here Campaign). Spare time be split among either Brewing me booze, or being a SESH STOP, (Short Emotional Support Healer So Thou Operates Properly) and one is not exclusive of the other, though ale tis not a good coping tool, as it be a depressant, but people do as they do, and I'd not be one to judge unless they endanger their own life. Being more able to take a hit rather than to give one, and preferring violence as an absolute last resort far behind diplomaticisms and booze.
5. List some campaigns goals, both ones you've had in the past and ones you would want in the future and whether you successfully accomplished them or if you failed or changed them. A life long goal (as it technically has no end because Death is a thing you can't outright stop): To keep as many people from dying as possible (Due to combat/Illness/unnatural means) With conclusions: find a life partner.. other goals yet to be determined
6. Has your character ever died (not just downed)? What happened, and what was the outcome? Johann, no. any character I've had, also no.
7. What was the best part of your last campaign? Down Time
8. What is one thing you would change about your last DM? no comment
9. What streams, youtube campaigns, or dnd related podcasts do you enjoy? I had watched TFS At the table for a long while in the past and then started playing with a group regularly which had since disbanded
10. What are some of you favorite and least favorite homebrew rules? I have no preference and am generally open to whatever.
1. What is your location? I don't need an exact location, but at least a state. - Portland, Maine
2. What day, Monday through Wednesday, works best for you? - Wednesday
3. Are you comfortable talking in front of people, and do you have any theater experience? - Fortunately, yes! I am an acting and theatre majour who is currently working professionally in the voiceacting field!
4. What kind of character prefer/want to play? Give as many details as you can, including personality and traits. (Please keep in mind that you may not be playing this exact character in this campaign.)
- I play a variety of characters. As someone who's worked in-depth with a variety of characters be that now as a voiceactor or during my time in university in musicals, etc, I try to not restrict myself. I cannot say I have a direct "favourite"!
5. List some campaigns goals, both ones you've had in the past and ones you would want in the future and whether you successfully accomplished them or if you failed or changed them.
- My campaign goals all boil down to the same thing at the end of the day. It's the requirement I have from all of my current players, DMs, etc. The first thing first is to remember that it's a game ultimately. A hobby, and an experience we're all sharing. So with that in mind, be kind to everyone around you. Do not bleed in-character to out-of-character, and be mindful of your own mental health and remind yourself that breaks are perfectly okay to take. From an in-game perspective however? In-depth roleplay is always a goal of mine. Being able to explore the world around that the DM has put together will always be a blessing. Feeling like your character matters, and weaving them into the relations of your other party members to tell a story you all will remember for ages? You cannot put a price on that experience.
6. Has your character ever died (not just downed)? What happened, and what was the outcome?
- We've all heard the stories of campaigns where the Paladin throws his life away to save the others. In this case, it was my Rogue who passed. After poking around inside of the castle of the corrupt king who was using a spell to control the minds of all of the townsfolk to build him a new empire, he failed his stealth-check with a natural 1. The party was close behind, so as the door slammed closed behind him and locked with an arcane seal even the wizard couldn't dispel, they were left to bang on the door fruitlessly. The Rogue new what was going to happen to him. He tried to ensure them all that it'd be okay. It was fair to say that it wasn't. Many tears, both in and out of character were held that day.
7. What was the best part of your last campaign?
- Ironically enough, the death of my Rogue was probably the most memorable moment. However, I can throw my 2nd favourite up instead! I personally am such a fan of how in our last campaign, while our characters were ultimately heroes, we weren't the main protagonists of an anime. At times when we'd reach a village that had been attacked.. another group had already taken care of the beasts harassing it. We weren't the end-all-be-all group who'd hold the people in the massive world our DM had created.
8. What is one thing you would change about your last DM?
- That's a hard thing to say. I've never had any considerable issues with a DM. The only thing I could put together with this question was that I wished he would've went ahead and ripped the bandage off when it came to issues with a problematic player, even if we got rid of them quickly.
9 What streams, youtube campaigns, or dnd related podcasts do you enjoy?
- I'm a bit partial to Critical Role and the Adventure Zone podcasts! (As a voiceactor, Critical Role speaks to me since I've worked in the same studios as some of those lovely people!)
10. What are some of you favorite and least favorite homebrew rules?
- I've not touched much homebrew rules that I've not liked. And it's not fair to say I've been in a game that heavily used homebrew rules over the basic ones!
What is your location? I don't need an exact location, but at least a state.
Pennsylvania
What day, Monday through Wednesday, works best for you?
Tuesday evenings with a hard cutoff at 4:30pm (have to be done by this time), Wednesday's are very flexible sop i should be able to play any time that day.
Are you comfortable talking in front of people, and do you have any theater experience?
In college I studied communications giving me a well rounded understanding of proper public speaking coupled with jobs that have given me real world experience in regard to speaking before crowds.
What kind of character prefer/want to play? Give as many details as you can, including personality and traits. (Please keep in mind that you may not be playing this exact character in this campaign.)
I'm open to anything. My previous characters have often dealt with their worldview's changing as they adventure and see more of the world around them. I think there are 2 keys for an interesting character, a flaw and a driving motivation. What are they working to achieve/overcome, and what do they do that makes it harder for themselves to achieve this goal.
List some campaigns goals, both ones you've had in the past and ones you would want in the future and whether you successfully accomplished them or if you failed or changed them.
In a previous campaign one of the goals was to dissect the thematic differences between divine and arcane magic as well as the inherent nature of magic as a whole. This was by far the most interesting overarching goal/theme for a campaign. Every campaign has a number of goals and it is always interesting to see the creative ways a party can accomplish them.
Has your character ever died (not just downed)? What happened, and what was the outcome?
I have not had one of my own characters die. My dm has always taken the approach that they are building a story around the heros and having the characters carry on in the world allows for the stories to continue progressing in the direction they were preparing them to go. As a DM I had a pc die and the impact it had on the party as well as the world was felt. I think that the death of a character doesn't mean that the character's impact and role is no longer felt.
What was the best part of your last campaign?
I think those moments of roleplay and bonding where the dm lets the players bond and immerse themselves in the world. We aren't focused on a mission or a goal, but instead can have the downtime that the characters themselves would have to pursue personal interest and the interesting stories/jokes that can come from this.
What is one thing you would change about your last DM?
I've had dm's who approach the game with a completionist mindset, they created all these little things that may not matter, but because they created them we can to go do them/interact with them. Also i have had dm's who just didn't bring energy or life to the game. they kind of are just there. I love when a dm can set the tone and pace for the campaign and can help move the adventure on when needed. (Knowing when it's needed is the trickiest part)
9 What streams, youtube campaigns, or dnd related podcasts do you enjoy?
Oh gosh there's so many: Not another DND podcast, Dimension 20 (all seasons), Dungeons and Daddies, and bits of Adventure Zone and Critical Role.
What are some of you favorite and least favorite homebrew rules?
I enjoy brutal critical, drinking potions is a bonus action, cleave mechanics (you hit and kill an enemy the excess damage then carries over to an enemy next to them), when a downed character is healed while in combat the gain some negative effect (level of exhaustion, a minus to bonuses, etc.)
1. Georgia. Not European Georgia. But I'll be moving to North Carolina in a month for school.
2. I'm not 100% sure what my schedule will look like in the fall, but I know I at least don't have classes on Monday.
3. Truthfully, no. But it's gotten to be a huge pain in the ass and I'd like to get more comfortable. I like the idea of starting with a group instead of coming in, because everyone knows nothing about everyone. No theater experience, just band.
4. I like lady elves. And I like rouges. I'd like to try to rework my previous character in (with necessary tweaks, like rerolling and deleveling) because I wasn't really done with her when my previous group fell apart.
5. I'm pretty easy to please. I enjoy DnD for the story telling aspects, but I also loved it because I got the chance to crack up with a group of people who were just as goofy as me.
6. No.
7. The story was fairly serious in nature, but we could still crack jokes and take a light hearted approach.
8. I'm not good with these kinds of questions. He was my only DM so I don't have a good metric to judge. I really liked his story telling; it was interesting and there was a big mysterious problem we were leading up to when the group dissolved.
9 The Adventure Zone
10. The only rule we had was "reroll 4's" because the DM played a previous game were someone rolled a lot of 4's, and he introduced that as a joke.
