The groups are now full so we won't be accepting any more people. I greatly appreciate the interest.
Hello, my name is Barsik, (I know it says showgen but I can't change it ):). A couple friends and I are looking for a few players to fill out a new homebrew campaign we had planned to start! I am somewhat experienced as a DM and have run a few shorter campaigns and am always open to feedback. The campaign is for everyone who's apart of it and I want you to feel like it. We are all males in our early/mid 20's but we are accepting all sorts of people with any or no experience to join our group! As long as your willing to show up regularly or let us know in advance if you can't make a session. We won't however accept any racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other type of bigotry. We expect anyone interested to be mature and respectful if they want to join.
The Adventure Hook
Everyone saw the projection. Forming from the clouds above a strange man with fanciful, exquisite robes, and blue skin appeared. He spoke of a grand contest. A contest that will challenge the skills of all that wish to enter. A contest with a prize of 3 wishes. Set to happen in about a year from now, the contest takes place in Lysoel, a kingdom on an isolated edge of the continent Neorra. Countless adventurers, mercenaries, scholars, nobles, politicians, and monarchs have taken interest and are making their way as well; going as participators, sponsors, or spectators. You've recently joined a caravan which will take you to the last city at the edge of Beaunat, the region and republic that you're currently in. Beaunat is a wealthy land full of merchants, sailors and adventurers from across the world. You're currently travelling to the first supply stop, which you only know the name, Greyplinth.
What to Expect
In this campaign we're leaning towards a less combat heavy campaign, with a larger focus in downtime activities, planning, and roleplaying. There will still be creatures to slay, evildoers to smite, and skulls to crack, but with some rule variants reckless fighting can have consequences. Since combat will be a serious risk, npc's who value staying alive and healthy will view it as such. The world will be as hard hitting to them as it is to you. In most situations there will be more than one option to deal with a problem. Creativity will be rewarded as long as it isn't too far fetched, but I am a big fan of the rule of cool. There is no set tone to the campaign, you can engage in whatever aspects of the world you choose but you're actions and inaction will have consequences.
More World Information
The name of the world is Adref. Named after the god that was said to have created it and the other divines of the world. The continent Neorra that you've recently arrived to is one that has only been recently settled, within the last couple hundred years. There is not much known about the history of Neorra. The continent was one of a few without any major civilizations or life on it until then. For this campaign I was wanting to try something new for world building and have the players create the basis of the region they're from. Governments, culture, and major events that may or may not have affected the player and their decision to seek out the wishes of the tournament. Much about where in the world you come from will be up to your discretion.
Variant Rules
In the campaign there will be a few rule variants and homebrew rules. I do want to do a session 0 to explain the rule changes.
Gritty Realism: Short rests take 8 hours, Long rests take 1 week. To make this rule not feel as if the campaign grinds to a halt whenever the party takes a long rest, downtime activities will still be allowed as well as other exceptions for what's allowed during a long rest such as cantrips and non intensive combat actions. Healer's kits will also be able have charges used for hit points outside of combat.
Injury Checks: A modified injury table will be used. Injury checks will happen whenever an important npc or player character is reduced to 0 hit points. It will mostly be minor injuries that create more risk if there is more fighting without it being tended to. There will also be rare major injuries that will require powerful magic or intensive care to treat.
