Game: D&D 5e in a homebrew world setting Group type: Online with Roll20 & Discord (Voice) Experience: Any, brand new players are welcome Location/Timezone: DM is in Eastern Time, USA; any location is welcome as long as they can make the session day/time. Schedule: Bi-weekly, Thursdays from 7:00-10:00ish. We are almost to session 50 and the PC'S are level 7. Roles sought: Player (1); current party is human cleric, elven warlock, tiefling sorcerer, and human bard. Game style: My games are a blended mix of combat and RP. Players who are heavy into RP are encouraged to apply. It is a (mostly) open-world/sandbox setting. I will heavily incorporate backstory, and player choice will dictate much of the campaign. Some parts will be light and cheerful, others will be dramatic and tense.
Setting: The setting is a (mostly) standard D&D 5e world that I have created. It is a living/breathing world, and the characters will play a role in shaping events in the cosmos. Their backstories and choices are reflected, and their deeds (good or bad) affect the world around them. I run games in a "Rule of Cool" style as long as it doesn't break anything too serious, and am willing to review homebrew ideas for play.
Next Steps:
Please send me a PM indicating your interest in the campaign which includes your Discord name (make sure it is spelled correctly!). I will respond to you here on DNDBeyond with some questions regarding your preferences, character ideas, playstyle, and other general items. If selected, you will participated in a free session to determine if the campaign is something you would like to pursue.
About the DM:
Greetings! My name is Josh and I am your new guide into battle, potential love interest, and all around bringer of doom! I'm in my early 30's, write creatively, and have been watching/ playing/ DM'ing for about five years. I got involved after several bad DM experiences, and have grown to love plotting for my characters, working against my characters, and every now and then putting them in precarious situations.
I work with my players to create characters, facilitate backstory, and integrate them into the world at large. It is my job to help give each player a reason to adventure and want to survive. I have ideas of things I want to explore, but at the end of the day the characters are writing their own story; I'm simply the narrator! A google doc of rules/information will be shared once a player joins the campaign.

Sessions require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $5 per player, per session (day of session, before or after, is acceptable). As mentioned above, the first is free to ensure that you like me as a DM and the other players in the party.
Why should I pay for a game when I could play for free?
This is a great question, and I will do my best to show you why I can provide an experience worth $10 a month (really, that's it!). First, a portion of this goes into my Roll20 subscription. This allows me to create a better and more immersive experience for the players, and I am always looking into purchasing more content on their site. Secondly, while I'm no professional voice actor (damn you Matthew Mercer!) I will do voices and accents for various characters within the world (feel free to rib me when appropriate, it's all in good fun! ;] ). Third, I will provide small things (music, macros, one liners, etc.) to help get folks invested in the game.
Fourth, and most importantly, is my own time and effort. I have put many, many, many, many . . . hours into building this world, the people, and the places. I work to make the experience for my players as complete as possible with world maps, tokens, battlemaps, character and location descriptions, and more. Want to hear a description of how your fireball incinerates that bugbear? Bam, I'm on it. Need to interact with random NPC #4? Oops, her name is actually Halla and she's about to make your life interesting because she actually saw the Devil that killed your mother. I know the disappointment that a bad DM brings, and I have a high standard for myself.
In addition, since everyone is contributing to the game it breeds a lower chance of individuals dropping out (so many times...) or being forced to leave due to outside circumstances (even more times...). I want everyone in the campaign, from the players to the DM, to be committed 100% and not have a doubt of where they will be one night every two weeks. I believe that the camaraderie that an RPG group develops can create lasting bonds and have forever impacts; it is my hope that I can create a space where everyone can laugh a lot, have fun, and be themselves.
I have comments from past players I can send as reference, or you can also speak with the current group who can attest to the kind of game I run.
In Conclusion:
I hope that you'll consider joining my campaign. Feel free to PM any questions you might have, and I look forward to our session!
I'm very interested. I'm more than willing to pay your rate and tip. I'm very supportive of the paid dm industry.
Why you should pick me.
1. I'll pay in advance for multiple sessions and you can deduct them even if I miss the session and your welcome to play the character(even if u get them killed) if i don't show. That way it never messes up a session for anyone else. BTW I'm a dedicated player who doesn't like to miss sessions but life happens.
2. You sound like the kind of dm I want to work with. I'm also a creative writer and have really been looking for a dm that actually wants ideas to work with. I won't tell you have to do anything but my backstop will come with so many open ended hooks for you to play with. If your creative and a writer you will enjoy working with me.
3. The character. I pitch to you my bard Theolonious Soulsinger. Everyone calls him singer and he hates it.
He inherited an enchanted lute from his deadbeat father(The Astral Thief another character of mine. He's a narcissist d bag celebrity their) when he got accepted into the college of(insert what rounds the party out best.)
The lute is sentient but has to attune before it can talk to its owner. Before that happens he gets caught up i. The college life. Burns out. Drops out and starts playing at the taverns to make ends meet and support his partying life style. Then he starts to hear this voice. He only heard it when he's sobering up though so he thinks its just a withdrawal hallucination. He thinks its funny and calls the voice Jones.
When this character enters your story he will have just broken his enchanted lute on the face of a half orc that insulted his performance. After promptly fleeing saud fight he couldn't win he finally realizes that the voice he's hearing is the lute trying to talk to him and guess what he's pissed. Hes now splinters and strings in singers bag. Still sentient though... but passed.
Theos ongoing personal quest is to fix Jones the lute. He realizes he messed up and wants to fix him. Guess what repairing enchanted sentient musical instruments... not so easy. Like if you as the dm allowed it to happen pre level 10 you don't understand how difficult. Not that he could fix it at 10 but that he would stand no chance of even associating with someone who could even know someone who could fix it before then.
Jones effect on game until fixed.
All he mostly does is make snarky comments to discourage/put down theo(he deserves it). These comments are voiced by either me or you as dm. Hes an npc so understanding the character please chime in and have fun.
Now Jones is capable of helping by providing insight or not or whatever you as dm want to use him for. Hes a fun character/tool for you to play with. Technically hes aware of stuff around him since he doesn't have sense of sight per say so u could see how that could be used sparingly to help theo. Obviously he doesn't really like the guy but doesn't want him to die... maybe. I'm handing him to you as Dm maybe he goes evil and plots to have thei killed so he can be captured an orcish death metal band. I just want someone to have fun with the idea with me.
Anyway, I would love to be a part of your world if you will let me.
Hey, I would love to talk with you about joining your party. I have very limited experience but would love to get in with a long running campaign. my Discord is gamedenn88#9426
