Alysa nods at the two bouncers who nod back at her. She has been here before once or twice and knows it is a respectable place.
She looks at her new group and realises that they all have this je ne sais quoi, a soft face or a a friendly attitude. Maybe she should let them talk and join the conversation only if some muscles are needed. “I am not the best at talking or bartering for information in a friendly manner. I’ll stay at the bar, keeping an eye out.”
She places her coat in a way that covers her armour or any sign of the Flaming Fist - People are far less talkative with the Flaming Fist officier - Her belly starts to make some noise, good timing for being in a tavern. She sits at the bar and orders a ale and something to eat, keeping her ears open for any rumours.
The owner of the tavern shuffles over to Alysa and brings her an ale filled to the top, the foam running down the side of the glass "Yer dark ale", he says. "Y'see, you can have a choice, Tall One, there's stew of rabbit or stew of vegetables. T'both are excellent!" He smacks his lips.
Jhasso enters comfortably in the tavern. He doesn't pay attention to the bouncers or the other patrons, as he is distracted by the fireplace... but no, that will come later. Firstly, he approaches the half-elf bartender: " A man greets you, bartender, respectfully. The organization known as Flaming Fist has sent us with official capacity, searching for a woman that goes by the name of Tarina."
Then the old half-elf turns to Jhasso. "uhhhh, official capacity. You won't find nothing here, I'm 'fraid."
The smells is the first thing Bryce notices “Gods, what a pungent smell...” He thinks to himself while stepping inside. Taking Alysa’s lead Bryce will also take a seat next to her ordering a glass of water. “Just a water for me thank you...”
Bryce will keep his wits about him as he too keeps an eye out.

Alysa sits at the bar, enjoying her beer. Then she hears a couple talk in one of the booths. They whisper and laugh. With the snippets that reach Alysa's ear, she can make out that the male tiefling, who is flirting with an elf, has a wife and three kids at home. And that these two are planning to run away together.

The smell is irritating Bryce, but he can overhear a conversation of two drunks at the bar. One of them just said: “I’ll bet my last copper piece that those so-called refugees are advanced scouts for an army that’s preparing to attack Baldur’s Gate!”
Nyx is torn about their feelings for this location. On one hand, they don't like being in an enclosed space with no clear exits. On the other hand, the low light is pleasant and a welcome refuge from the brightness outside. Nyx is not particularly drawn to the insulting commander's instruction, but does feel like Alysa and Hal have shown elements of humanity and compassion. They flit around semi randomly, not sure what they are looking for, but keeping their eyes and ears open.

Maybe it is the bartender's accent or the flickering flames of the fireplace that stirs Jhasso lost memories. Memories that are helping Jhasso to decipher the intent beyond the words.
Talking with Bryce on the way to the tavern, Hal explains how he learned Sylvan from his mother, along with some stories of Fairies. She was the true adventurer of the family but his father was the one who loved history and would gladly wade up to his armpits in quicksand if it meant that he could uncover a relic.
Distancing himself a little from the group, he waited until everyone had ordered and subconsciously scanned the room for escape routes, danger and what was on the menu for the afternoon. After a few moments, he ordered a beer and asked about the availability of Elven wine in such a fine establishment.

The old half-elf would rather be dead than seen helping the Flaming Fist. However, to run an establishment on both sides of the law, you also need to make some 'powerful' friends with the city's protectors.
Jhasso sees the fire reflected in the ring on the bar tenders right hand - and catches a clear hand sign that the person this man was enquiring for must be sitting upstairs, playing dice.

After a few moments, he ordered a beer and asked about the availability of Elven wine in such a fine establishment.
Hal scans the room, marks where rooms are leading off the main room, understands there is a kitchen in the north (E6), a storage room close to the kitchen (E4), a smokers lounge in the south (E2) and what seems another private dining room to the east (E3).
The only person Hal perceives as danger is a scar-faced halfling woman, who seems to be scanning the crowd to see where everyone keeps their coins.
The bar tender gets excited, when Hal asks for a special wine.
"Gosh, Elven wine, but of course! One day I'd like to get my hands on Evermead. That's a good Elven drop! Other wines are just as good though! The best we have is Zzar, a strong fortified wine from Waterdeep. If you haven't tried it, you havn't lived. Ohhhh or the good ol' Elverquisst. There is a special wine for you. Ruby-colored, distilled from sunshine and rare summer fruits, so they say, and flecked with gold! You can also just have the simple elven house wine, so to speak. Which one takes your fancy?"

Nyx flies around the room, overhearing snippets of information from each table. However, not much makes sense to them. Who is Ulder Ravengard? What does it mean, the Flaming Fist is 'decapitated'? What was a Council of Four? And who or what is an Undermountain Alurlyath?

Alysa decides not to say anything to the tiefling - this is not my problem. While eating, she looks arounds if she sees anybody that would fit the description of the informant. She also sees that some of the group start chatting between them but decides she will talk with the group members a bit later, now they have a mission.
With one eye on the bartender and another on the Halfling casing the tavern, Hal buries his purse with what few coins are left in it, deeper into his pocket.
“That is quite the selection of Elven wine.”
Glancing back at Nyx and trying to decipher what would be her preference, he finally just shrugs and orders a glass of Elverquisst.
Taking the wine that did indeed have somewhat of a fruity smell to it, Hal found Nix and set the glass down in front of her.
“It’s um, sunshine and rare summer fruits…or so I’ve been told. Actually, now that I think about it, it’s quite a lot of wine for someone so small. Oh, but powerful. Powerfully small. Heheh, OK, I’m usually a bit more charming than this.”
Raising his own glass, Hal proposed a toast in Sylvan. “Adventuring is the curse of the drinking class.”
After thanking the bartender, Jhasso goes to join the rest of the group.
Jhasso doesn't partake but does whisper the information about Tarina to his comrades.
Alysa moves from the bar to a side table where they can discuss freely. "Let's follow the lead of Jhasso. I did not notice anything strange down here and I don't see anything stoping us to go upstair. Let's go talk to this Tarina."

"Hey, who are you? Yeah, Hellriders! They have actually been to hell and back! They are hardcore. They really could be up to anything!'
Upstairs, lit lanterns hang from the rafters in this windowless room. Rugs cover the wooden floor and help dampen the noise from drunken patrons gathered around two large tables, eating and playing games of Baldur’s Bones, a popular dice game.
As you watch for a couple of rounds, one person stands out. A young woman with long dark hair is surprisingly sober, even though she clearly has a bottle of something strong next to her. Every round or two, she fills up the glasses of her opponents, while only pretending to empty her own glass. The amount of coins in front of her suggest, that she is on a winning streak.
She looks you over, then returns to playing. At the same table sits a punch-drunk older man with no eyebrows with some tools strapped to his belt, a half-orc, who is letting out a bellowing laugh at one of the woman's jokes, a woman wearing a religious robe and a neckless with a crystal inlaid with various-coloured eyes, and three more drunks, who all have some sort of paint-stains on their fingers, possibly from the weaving mill across the street. When Tarina wins her next game, she looks up again.
"Would you like to partake? Put your money down and roll your dice!"
